Hubby came home yesterday and said to book a trip for January!!!

Please give opinions on which one. Only options I have are:

Pirate Rooms at CBR (skyliner yah!!! double beds , long walk:eek:) $1,395

Royal Room at POR (no skyliner ☹) $1,500

Regular Room POR - I don't mind the Aligator Bayou rooms can those be requested? I don't like the other ones (so boring) $1,363

Well, some positives on Trinidad (where the pirate rooms are located) -- they are decently close to the Skyliner station in Jamaica, and Trinidad also has its own Quick Service location, Spyglass Grill. And each section has its own quiet pool if you don't feel like trekking over to the feature pool. I did not stay in the rooms in Trinidad so I cannot comment on those, but I do not find CBR as large as many people on these boards describe it. But I guess YMMV. I haven't stayed at POR so I can't comment there, but they do have the boats to Springs if that is a positive for you.

I didn't realize there is quick service close by. That helps.

You should be able to peek at the menu online to see if it appeals to you. From what I understand it's a more limited menu than what is available at Centertown but on the CBR Facebook group I was in a lot of people had nice things to say and said they never even went to OPR at all for their entire trip!

We have stayed at POR several times and love it! Yes, you absolutely can request AB section. We always do. One time we were put in the Mansions, but they were able to get us n the AB section. I guess I'm partial to POR, so don't know about CBR and don't care at all about the skyliner. I think Disney is really pushing the cost up on those skyliner hotels, so there's that.

Full size beds = deal breaker
I will say that we just got back from our trip at POP and the whole family absolutely loves the skyliner, it was great.

We stayed at POR for the first time last Thanksgiving in a Royal Room and loved it! The bus system worked fine and we enjoyed the boat to Disney Springs.
I have heard horror stories about the Skyliner so don’t think you would be missing anything by not having it.

The Skyliner horror stories are greatly exaggerated. We have been here since Saturday and ridden the Skyliner every day, multiple times. As I knock on wood, we have yet to come to a complete stop while riding...several slow-downs but no full stops.

Here in Jamaica at CBR and can be in DHS in 12 minutes, hotel room to tapstile, 16 minutes for Epcot. Today we rode the Skyliner to DHS for 6:30 am opening of Rise of the Resistance. We had a high boarding number so after several rides (SDD, TSM) we returned to CBR to leave some purchases then grabbed a bus to AK. We were on Safari at 10:00 am. After Dinosaur we returned by bus to DHS for RotR. Then rode the Skyliner for a 1:45 lunch at Spice Road Table in Epcot. We then took the Skyliner back to CBR for a drink at Cabana Banana, a nap, and now grabbing a Lyft for dinner at Cali grill.

POR is a nice resort but the Skyliner makes park hopping really easy.

Riverside is my fave resort, even over Deluxe. If you spend alot if time at Disney Springs, cant beat the convenience of the boat ride. Excellent theming, gorgeous landscaping, good food and entertainment.

Thanks for the responses. We decided on POR regular room, hopefully the Alligator Bayou.

Didn't think we could handle the double beds and hubby wasn't excited about the Skyliner.

So all choices look to be either about $1400 or $1500 for the royal room at POR. I honestly did not like CBR at all and the Pirate rooms have been regularly panned. The royal room at POR on the other hand is fantastic. Even as a grown dude, I thought it was a great room, very fun theming. And the Royal rooms are generally located in a nice spot with regards to walking to transportation. I found it worth the extra cost.

You lose the skyliner access but gain the water taxi. Since we hit Disney Springs about as often as we go to Epcot or HS, I would call this a wash. You can still take some nice trips on the Skyliner while visiting those parks but you do lose out on the utility of having it as ready transportation.

I'm seriously biased, I love POR. Even when I have the ability to stay in a deluxe, I usually choose POR. Just a vibe thing for me maybe.
