We have a painted metal porch railing that has a lot of rust spots showing through the paint and places where the paint is totally gone. I think it is some kind of wrought iron. I need to get the rust gone and repaint the railing. My plan is to get a wire brush to attach to a drill and use that to remove some of the paint and rust. Is this a good plan, or should I use some kind of paint stripping chemical to get rid of all the paint and then go after the rust? It is probably 3 feet high and a total length of 10-12 feet. So not a lot. Until I start working on it of course.
