my girls always give away their balloons to children in our resort on the night before we checkout - it is their way of spreading some pixie dust.

We went to DL for opening day of California Adventure, so this happened a few years ago. ;0)

DD had her second birthday at Disneyland. It was very exciting as she has never been to DL before. We took her to Minnie's and friends for breakfast, got her 'I'm 2 today' badge at City Hall and then headed to Toon Town to meet Mickey (my favourite character - hers was/is Pluto).

We were the ONLY family in toon town. As we walked towards Mickey's house, DD, dressed in jeans, her Jane jacket (tan safari jacket with Jane on it) and Mickey ears, strode along like she owned the place. Being stuck to the camera, I quickly walked in front of her a ways to get her adorable look. We were walking by the white picket fences at this point and I snapped the photo if her smug little face. As I crouched there, I could see that she was being stocked. Closer and closer she walked towards me and yet, each step, he got closer. She had no idea that he was there because she was lost in her own world. Well that was until a long red tongue lapped at her head. She squealed and jumped and Pluto caught her so she wouldn't fall. As she realized who it was, her face lit up and she gave him a huge hug. They played and 'talked' for about 15 minutes until we finally made it to Mickey's. DD then reached out and gently touched his whiskers and with one more hug we left him outside.

Later that evening, as we were walking out of the park for the night, we saw Pluto again in Main st. There was a line of teens and adults, so I explained that we had to go to bed; we could wave to Pluto but that we couldn't wait in line. Maybe we would see him tomorrow...and so on. So, we stopped just off the road and waited for Pluto to finish with his current guest. During the change over, she gave Pluto a huge wave and blew him a kiss. Then I took her hand and our group moved off towards the exit. You can imagine my surprise when my DD pulled on me and Pluto was standing beside her. He took her hands and brought her hands to his whiskers. Then he gave her a hug and one more lick. Then he went back to his guests and we went to our hotel.

DD fell asleep on the way to the hotel and we plopped her into bed...she rolled over and muttered 'dodgy lix'.

Best Disney memory ever! Other than 'thach' (that) and Dada, DD didn't actually talk much at that age - so to get 'doggy lick' was kind of amazing.

Please don't make me cry on the way to work like that! What an adorable memory!!! Does she have any memory of it? I know you'll never forget it :)

Ok now i'm crying again ... that just made my heart melt such a beautiful memory

I'll try to move us on from tears to laughter...

We were spending a lazy day in CA taking in something other than ToT and Cal Screamin', LOL, and found ourselves in Ursula's Grotto, near the Animation Academy. In a nutshell, you get to sing, karaoke-style, to certain Disney movie clips, and your voices are recorded and played back to you afterwards. Well my sister (Aust), my DD8 and I tried a few songs, which were fine, we're all hopeless singers, but we were having a ball trying. Then we moved on to the clip from Snow White, where the 7 dwarves sing 'Hi Ho Hi Ho, it's off to work we go...' then they whistle the tune. We were fine with the singing, but when the whistling part came, all my sister could do was blow out air whilst trying to whistle - it took me some 35 years to discover that my sister can't whistle - the playback was hilarious!

Maybe you really had to be there to get how funny it was, but it was almost the highlight of our trip for my daughter, and she brings it up often, in order to have a laugh at her poor Aunty's expense!

The other major memory occurred at Ariel's Grotto... but I'm banned from mentioning it :rotfl:

Oh, I didn't mean to cause tears. Sorry. :0)

No, DD doesn't remember much of the first Disney trip. Sadly. But we do!

I know I'm coming late to this thread, but I love reading people's magic moments at Disneyland. Mine was right about this time last year. It was our first trip to Disneyland (although we'd been to HK Disneyland). We were watching World of Colour and my 10 year old son and I had our arms around each other. I looked down to see him crying and, as he's easily spooked, I asked if something had scared him. He replied, "No, it's just that this really IS the happiest place on earth. Thank you for bringing us." Even my husband had tears in his eyes after that!

Oh this has me tearing up as well. What a beautiful moment. Thank you for sharing.

My memories of Disneyland's 50th anniversary. Walt's original opening day speech and the 50th anniversary fireworks and Parade of Dreams. I shall return for the 60th anniversary as they do so much extra and I'd love for my kids to experience a celebration Disney style!!

Our first visit in 09....no further info required .

Our '11 visit and 5th birthday dinner at crystal palace @ MK@ wdw. Very fun night still being talked about.

Our '12 visit and 14th birthday for DS at big thunder ranch @ DL ( all you care to eat -such a polite term- BBQ) and a happy bday visit from woody ( DS favourite ) & Jesse and a big HB song from the band.

Happy days.

Before we took dd3 for the first time we would sit and watch youtube videos with her so she wouldn't be frightened of certain things. Her favourite thing to do was to sit on daddy's lap and watch fantasmic on youtube. They'd watch it every day. For our trip we booked fantasmic priority seating and it happened to be a very cold night. She was cold so I took of my only jumper and put it on her (the things mummy's do for their babies). :) You can imagine this tiny 3 year old with a jumper that was too long for her little arms. I don't think she knew what we were doing there.

Then the music started, and mickey jumped up and starting doing his little arm waving dance and she was so happy and excited, she jumped up into the middle of the aisle and was doing the dance along with him, waving her arms over her head with the long sleeves flinging everywhere. It was such an awesome moment.
