Our trip is in July. Me, DD 19, DS 17, my boyfriend and his DS 13. This trip is the son's first trip ever and my BF second, although he hasn't been in over 10 years.

Trip is planned, staying at OKW. Dining ADR's are made. Good to go, right? Nope.
Last night DD tells me we MUST see Fantasmic. So now I am in a bit of a conundrum. Thursday is our HS day and we have dinner at Ohana's at 7:40. Do I skip Ohana for Fantasmic? If I choose to do this, where could we eat dinner at HS? We don't usually eat at HS.

Arrival is Sunday. Going to MK for awhile then dinner at Chef Mickey's.
Monday is Epcot, with dinner in Germany, followed by fireworks
Tuesday is AK, with dinner at Raglan Road. Going to be a later night, at least for the adults.
Wednesday is MK with dinner at CRT, followed my parade and fireworks.
Thursday is HS and then Ohana.

Our tickets are park hopper, so that is not an issue. We usually do not spend the entire day at AK.

Thoughts? Suggestions?
Thanks!!

I like the dining at DHS Just fine and you might enjoy Sci Fi Dine-in theater or 50's Prime Time Cafe. Since you have Hopper tickets, you could easily walk or boat to Epcot for any of the great table service or counter service there before heading back to DHS.

I like Fantasmic and especially if someone in your group specifically requested it, this is a small adjustment for a good show!

What time is your Chef Mickey dinner on arrival day? Possibility to hop to DHS after that for Fantasmic.

Other than that, your only other option really is opting out of Ohana and choosing a DHS restaurant. We love Sci-Fi, it's a must do for us. 50s PTC is also pretty good and fun, Mama Melrose is not a bad option either. I guess it will come down to how set you were on eating at Ohana for dinner.

If you don't mind eating at 4:30 or 5:00 you can buy the Fantasmic dinner package. You can eat at either Mamma Melrose's (Italian), Hollywood & Vine (buffet) or Hollywood Brown Derby (fine/signature dining so more expensive) and you get vouchers for the show that night, which guarantees you a seat in the reserved section.

Just another option. Ohana is one of our favorite restaurants, but we LOVE the BREAKFAST! Could you do breakfast one of your days there instead?

For dining at HS, as previous people have mentioned Sci-Fi and 50's prime time is really fun! I would also maybe expand your search to Boardwalk/BC/YC. It's a quick boat ride to/from from the park!

Chef Mickey ADR is 7:40, so won't be able to see Fantasmic that night.
We could go to HS, swing by Epcot for dinner, then back to HS for Fantasmic.
The Fantasmic dinner plan only has resizes at 12:40 at MM. A bit too early. A possibility is 50's PTD, even without the package. Brown Derby menu is not doing anything for me, so that one is out.

Guess I'll have to look into the options…Thank you!!

The Swan/Dolphin has some nice restaurants, could you consider having dinner there and then heading over to HS for Fantasmic? It's a quick walk or boat ride.

Took the words right out of my mouth. We love Ohana for breakfast. We always plan it on a MK or EP day so we can just take the monorail right to the park after we eat.

You could book MM without the package and then get a FP for the show. I would get rid of 'Ohana if one of my family asked that we do so in order to see show. You could also have dinner on the Boardwalk or the Epcot resorts as well.

I can't say enough good things about 50's Prime Time Cafe! Probably my favorite WDW restaurant after O'hana.

Honestly, I would drop Chef Mickey's and eat at 50's, Sci-Fi or Brown Derby. All have better food and then you can go see Fantasmic.

Honestly, I would drop either Chef Mickey's or even CRT, with the group you've got going. Is there a particular reason you've got those ADRs? I'm just not sure they're a must do for those ages and especially boys. Move 'Ohana into one of those MK days. Easy to get to Poly and back on either of those nights. Then do Sci Fi or Prime Time on your HS night.

This is what I was thinking. The food is not good enough at either of these locations to justify going with your group, IMO. You can go by the Contemporary and see the commotion at Chef Mickey's, and CRT, well, with little girls (I went when my girls were 7 and 10) I can see it, otherwise, no.

I would keep the reservation just in case Fantasmic is cancelled for weather. If Fantasmic is not cancelled, skip the reservation. There are plenty of places to eat at DHS that do not require a reservation.

But then she would occur a no-show charge

Even though MM Fantasimc Package is early, could you do that for lunch, and do something light for dinner? Maybe some snacks or something lighter for a dinner? Then you are still guaranteed a good seat for the show

Yes to both of the above posts! In all my trips to WDW I'd have to say Chef Mickey rates right up there with the least favorite experiences! I've always wanted to do CRT but the cost and hassle just hasn't made it work for us. F! is a good show and worth seeing, we really like Sci-Fi for burgers and sandwiches plus the theme is super cool. I think your 13 yr old might really enjoy that, you could all fit into one car!

If you really must do dinner at O'hana make that your arrival night dinner and skip Chef Mickey.

With park hoppers you can hop into Epcot for dinner, we really like the Epcot restaurant scene, so many choices. You can also hop into HS any night for the second showing of F! if that helps with planning. Anyone super into sports? Dinner at ESPN then into HS for F! is a possibility too.

Good luck!

I would sub OHanas for Chef Mickeys. I wish we could skip CM, but DH insists we go every trip.

I would drop Ohana for Sci Fi or 50's Prime Time at DHS. Even Mama Melrose. Ohana is out of the way from both DHS and OKW anyhow. If Ohana is a must, you could replace Raglan Road with it and plan to go to Disney Springs from the Poly that night. Or you could replace Chef Mickey's with it on your arrival day.

Someone above mentioned Ohana breakfast. It's still served family style however it is a character breakfast, so we found it pretty overpriced compared to the character buffets that have way more of a selection. It was not one of our favorite breakfasts.
