We are planning an early trip for next year. what are your opinions both good and bad for the first week of February? DH DW DD nephew and grammy will be going.

Do you think the first part of march would be better?

I was there this past February during the week before President's Day. It was great! The crowds were low, except for Friday at the MK. I've never seen it like that. Stroller gridlock in Fantasy Land. I hate to think what summer looks like.

The weather was cool. We wore sweatshirts to start with most mornings. That said, it was still warm enough to swim.

We have only done one february trip. Over the president week vacation here. You will be going earlier so you will avoid those crowds. The weather was cool, but sure beat the snow we escaped from. I had our ds wear zip off pants. We did bring some bugs with us. One ds had a virus that didnt last long and we were meeting some friends but they wound up in centra care for the day when their dd got an ear infection. 2 of our ds also got sick from swimming late at night at the Poly pool. Definetely needed more than a towel. Should have immediately put on hooded sweatshirts and pants for walk back to room. I am sure you will have a good time. Just think layers. Also the parks will probably have shorter hours so you will have to adjust your touring plans accordingly.

The weather will be cool and possibly not conducive to pools/water parks. Crowds should be light. I'd do it in a minute:earsboy:

I went 3 years ago at the same time you are and it was great! I like the cool weather so I was in heaven, balmy 70's to 80's during the day, low 40 to 50's at night, definitely think layers. And don't underestimate Florida at night it can reach 40 so don't forget gloves, scarves, etc. Even though I was OK with a heavy hooded sweatshirt with gloves, my 70yo Mom needed her coat (a light coat and sweater, scarf, gloves, hat) but she was always cold. AK gets very hot during the day but early in the morning its still cool so definitely plan on taking light sweater or jacket and removing during the day, its the hottest of all the parks and Feb. is NOT excluded. I swam during noon, whenever we were at hotel. We did a lot of resort hopping after parks were closed. Great time for low crowds. Have a wonderful trip!

We went the 1st week of Feb '03. The crowds at the parks were very light, with at the most a 15 min wait in lines. Epcot was almost deserted. We really lucked out with the weather too. Mornings were in the 50's and afternoons in the mid 70's. Thursday of that week it got up to around 80. We even went swimming a few times too. It only rained a little on Friday and that was while we were in "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire." It was a great time for us.::yes::

I took my 80yo father the first week of February 2003 and it was wonderful! A tad coolish in the am/eve but perfect touring weather in the afternoon. Low crowds, hardley any rain. It was a wonderful trip. We didn't swim but we saw people swimming. To me it seemed a little too cold, but I bet it was warm in the water. It's a great time to go! Have fun!

We went 2 nd week of March this year. Had a great time, most days very little waiting(but we never do comando). One or 2 days it was busier. I would pick 1st week of March, you are more likely to get better weather. It was cool enough to wear a sweater some mornings/evenings on our trips. But it is warm enough to swim, and that might be a good time for some family members to rest in the room, while others are at the pool. The other good thing is I think the parks might be open slightly later...you might want to check. Choice is yours...I think you'd be fine with either.

As long as it isn't President's Weekend, then the first week of February is great! Crowds are very low. The only time I've experienced lower crowd levels is in mid-September. The weather in February is hit or miss. I've had rainy and in the mid-50s all the way up to low 80s and sunny. I'd say the average is probably high 60s to low 70s.

February is a perfect month for WDW! The crowds are low (but still enough to feel festive!) and the weather is gorgeous. msr709 makes good points about the weather--you will need to bring both warm-weather clothes and some cold-weather clothes, too. We ended up packing twice as many clothes as we did for our warm-weather trips 'cause we just weren't sure how the weather would behave.

The first week of Feb. will be CHEAPER!!!!

It is still value season and top that with a room discount and you can save a fair amount of $$.

We have been once in Jan. and had perfect 80 degree weather all week. This was over MLK weekend, some days were more crowded than others.

Once the first week of Feb. and it was mostly dry but coolish (never about 70). Low crowds until Daytona week began.

Last time the week after Pres. Day, weather all over the boards (some hot, some cold, some dry, some wet) Manageable crowds despite being Mardi Gras.

Hope that helps.
:D

It's definitly cooler, less crowded and cheaper. I'm undecided if I like winter or summer better. We just got back and although it was crowded, it was still manageable and we still had a BLAST but yes it was extremely HOT!!
With "Grammy" I believe the weather in Feb will be perfect. Don't imagine there woud be a great difference going in March unless that is the time when school break is happening.

We went Feb 2-9, 2002 and it was great except that we ended up there with 30,000+ cheerleaders! NO FLAMING, I THINK THEY ARE WONDERFUL!! Just not all that excited about hearing them in the wee morning hours

My DS18, was however, quite pleased that we had chosen that week, as on the buses he always sat in the back (away from the parents  ) and found himself constantly immersed in a pool of girls his age

:hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Have fun!

If you want a vote of confidence from me...you'll get a BIG one!!!

I got online back in '01 to start planning a trip for 2005 or so... thinking it would be terribly expensive and my boys would be old enough to enjoy in by then...THEN I found this site and the rest was history. We ended up going the first week of Feb. '02 it was cool, it was not crowded and it was cheap(off season, and both the boys were still free (ages 1 and 2). So if you want to know if we liked it...

We have gone back every year at (roughly) the same time. And plan to keep going as long as we are lucky enough to afford it!!!

But be sure to be gone when presidents weekend hits because it could shatter your whole "no crowd, short line" image/memory of the trip!!! It gets busy quick! We left the park pretty early on our last day because it was hard to enjoy after how spoiled we were by the first several days there.

I think my signature has all the dates but if not, we have gone 9 years running in January/February. We live in a tourist area and it is impossible to get time off work in the summer.

We have taken my 80+ mother-in-law twice and my 60 + sister-in-law with trouble walking, once. We always have our three kids and usually a couple others.

I LOVE JANUARY/FEBRUARY. It is substantially cheaper. You get breaks on hotels and in the last three years have rented homes for very little. Last year it was 6 bedrooms/3bathrooms, private heated pool and 10 drive from Disney for less that $100.00 a night and it was a nice house than what I live in.

There are few lines. I talked with someone who went during spring break and couldn't believe their impression and what attractions they didn't get to see.

We do fast pass if there is a 1/2 hour wait. We only make a couple of reservations for meals but generally, if we stagger meal time and don't try to eat right at noon and 5, we get right in.

We have been there when it snowed and when it was HOT. The weather is somewhat unpredictable but don't have trouble with rain. We dress in layers. It is cool in the morning and for the night shows and nice and warm in the afternoon.

Any specific questions we might be able to answer?
