I need new luggage

Any suggestions? I have a set of American Tourister I got from Penney's about 2 years ago and I am not happy with it.

The one thing I hate is that the handle that slides up and down for you to wheel it doesn't have a very good cover inside - so your close get those lines on them from being inside smashed up against the handle

Any recommendations?

We got a great deal on some bags from Norstroms Rack a few months ago. They were like $450 on sale for $80 Not sure of the brand or type but when we got home and looked them up they had great reviews on them.

We are huge fans of Tumi luggage. It can be pricey (there are occasional sales on discontinued styles/colors) but it is very sturdy. If you buy cheap luggage and have to replace it often, it adds up to more than you would spend on good luggage that will last a long time. Last July, we picked up 4 pieces of Tumi on sale for what one piece usually costs!

If you have a TJMaxx near you they have some great deals on really nice stuff sometimes. Brand name stuff for next to nothing.

Oh I bought some Samsonite stuff that we LOVE when we needed new stuff last year- I also got a super cheap samsonite set online(ebags sale) and it is ok. But the samsonite I got at the outlets is a better bag- They have various levels of quality I have since found out.
Now if money where no object I would get another Ghurka bag set- We got one of those way back before we were married- extensive travel pre children-- and that set lasted over 17 years! and still looked good! But finally it gave out-

I got sick of the airlines ruining my luggage and decided to get cheapo stuff for airplanes. Didn't care what it looked like, because I figured it would get ruined quickly and replaced with other, cuter cheapo luggage.

Wouldn't you know that my hideously ugly (army green Eddie Bauer) Target luggage is the set that stands up to airline treatment?! Not the Tumi, not my cute Winnie the Pooh Disney luggage...this UGLY crap.

If you want a set that lasts forever and want to pay almost nothing for it, go to Target.

I could have written this! I thought it was just dumb luck that my cheap set from Target has withstood so much but I guess not. I think I paid all of $100 for a 4-piece set about 5 years ago and (knocks on wood) it is still in great shape.
