I am going to Disney twice this year. Once in May with my son and brother and again in August with my son and wife. Both trips are for one week.

Because of the total number of days we'll be going, I am considering buying an annual pass for myself and son. I've read that for an additional $60, I can purchase a "Tables in Wonderland" card which is good for 20% off at many of the restaurants on site.

I did the DDP last trip and was happy with it, but I normally wouldn't eat dessert with every meal, I like to order appetizers sometimes, and I do like a beer or two. :drinking1

My question to those who have used the TIW card is do they think it would be a good value in my case (I'd get 14 days of use, maybe more if I return for another trip before my AP ran out), or should I stick to the DDP?

And can you really use it on alcohol like I've heard? Can I stop into Rose and Crown and have a beer and just show my card?

If anyone could help me out with some information it would be greatly appreciated. :goodvibes

I have the TIW card and we use it a good amount. Yes, if the place takes the TIW card you will get 20% off on the whole thing, including drinks.

We have the TIW card and find that it pays for itself after two days. Be aware that it is accepted mostly at "Table Service" restaurants and not counter service (excepting some Resort snack bars like at Pop Century).

It will discount 20% off food and beverage (alcohol too!) but will also automatically add 18% gratuity. We generally tip 15-20 percent anyway so this isn't a problem for us.

TIW will offer you more flexibilty to eat what you want, if you want to eat at all. Sometime my wife is more than happy to order an appetizer and share from our kids and my entrees. With DDP, we would have to pay for any extra appetizers and then have to order 3-4 desserts when we would normally share 1-2 if any.

DDP is convenient in that all your meal are prepaid. But we found that we tended to order the more expensive items to get the most value, rather than the ones we preferred to eat. With TIW, you can let Timmy order pasta instead of another New York Strip.

We've done both within the last year and definitely prefer TiW. It really helps when you have a cocktail or glass of wine with dinner and like you we normally don't eat dessert with every meal (especially lunch). With TiW we could order one appetizer and share it if we liked and if we were in the mood for dessert we could share one too (both at a 20% discount). We usually tip at least 20% so the added 18% tip was no inconvenience for us. We probably won't get annual passes every year and will miss TiW when we're unable to purchase it.

Thank you for the replies.

Seems as though TIW is the choice.

Any dissenters who think DDP is better?

Definately TIW- you get to have what you want - I am like you and usually don't eat dessert and like a cocktail- we have found it pays for itself very shortly

Absolutely go with TiW! We had the DDP for free last January and while it was fine because it was free, we didn't like being tied into ordering an entree and dessert. As you mentioned in your post, you like to order appetizers and alcoholic beverages. Same with us. Plus, we don't always order dessert either or only a couple to share between the 4 of us. After doing a detailed study of the DDP vs. TiW last January, I concluded that we'll never, ever pay for the DDP out of our own pockets....TiW is the best bet for us! ::MinnieMo
