Okay.... here is the question.... How do you store your old / not being used photos ?? I have boxes of pictures, some in envelopes, some not, all over the house ! I am tired of always looking for what I want to do a layout !! I need a quick and inexpensive way to store all my pics ! My only issue is that I used to have an APS camera, so I have have pictures of all sizes !! Help..... Please ? ! ? ! ?

ScrappinBear,
I store our pictures that are taken with my camera in photo albums. I went through all of our albums and wrote the dates of the pictures inside on the outside of the album (ex: Janaury 2001-March 2002) so if we are ever looking for something quickly it does not take so long. For any pictures that we have gotten from others (which vary in size) I bought a scrapbooking album at Michael's (using one of their coupons!) and I put them in there so I can write by the picture who it is and the date. ( I do not do it in a scrapbook format) I save my scrapbooking for special things like vacations or I have done a book for each of my kids from birth on. I think the best way to start this project would be to go through all your pics and make piles by years and then start to put them in books. It will take awhile but you will be glad you did it when its done. :)

thats a great solution, but if you dont want to press all the pics in a book, you can buy decorative boxes and date them and just throw the pics of that year in a box. label your boxes on the outside with the year and there you have it.
a filing cabinet would also work, stuff the pictures in an envelope(they have large bulky ones) and then just date them.

I started out with albums with plastic sleeves. Now I use picture boxes. Most come with index divider cards and I separate them by topics like, holidays, birthdays. trips, outings, friends and such. I also had an APS camera at one time. The 2 smaller sizes fit in the box sideways, the panoramics fit front to back.

The APS photos are challenging aren't they? I've been trying to work out a suitable system myself...one that won't be a total mess if someone knocks the box over or opens it (can you tell I have a 2yo?lol) I started doing the box thing (lined w/ af,lf and buffered paper) but realized I was just asking for trouble with my dd! She loves photos and I need as many layers of protection in my system as possible.

I recently got a Rubbermaid media storage box and plan to keep my photos in there inside the boxes they come in from the developer. I have to trim down the 4x7 boxes, but the photos fit fine. I have to work out how to cross reference my panoramics, but I can fit a long box in sideways w/o trouble. Its basically the same as the photo box file system, but is harder to totally disorganize.
