My DH had the wonderful idea of taking me his DW and our DD9 to WDW. We are flying (first time for me and DD) and staying at POP resort. We are so excited about the trip. We are planning the character meals to surprise DD and she knows nothing about any of them. :hyper:

I would LOVE to plan something for my DH because he is such a wonderful husband and father. He works so hard and works shift work and wants so badly for our family to have such a nice vacation this year and for us to not worry about anything. Someone PLEASE give me some ideas on what I could do to surprise him???

We are flying in on June 5 early in the morning and flying back home June 12 later in the day. We have 7 day park hopper passes and also we have the dinning plan. We chose to go with a TA and I am so glad that we did. She has be a godsend!!!!

Thanks for any help or suggestions you have.

Heather

I can't wait until June!!!! :cool1:

I have seen others highly recommend the California Grill at the Contemporary. This looks great, booking a ADR to time it right with watching fireworks at MK, supposed to be a fantastic view.

Good luck!

My DH really wanted to do a Segway tour, he didn't get to because you need to book it in advance and he wated too late. If you think your husband might like something like that, I think it is around $85 for a 1.5 hour less and back scenes tour at Epcot, or something like that.

You might want to book that one for some fun. Also, if $ is no object, the Richard Petty Driving Experience is a big hit w/ the guys. ;)

Also Cirque De Soleil, might be an idea.

Good luck, Let us know what you decide.

Donna

I suggest booking the Segway tour for him. (This is at Epcot.) This would be a huge surprise! It's something unusual but really fun and this might be the only place he would get to experience this. There are 2 different options but be sure to book the 2 hour tour. He will get one hour of instruction on how to ride the Segway and then the other hour is spent riding around World Showcase. On the one hour tour, you only get the instruction and stay inside the training building. The cost is $80 for the 2 hour tour but there are discounts available such as AAA, Disney VISA, AP, etc. You will have to request the discount - they don't offer it to you.
Here's a link to read more about the Segway tour -

We did this back in December and it was so much fun we all want to do it again on our next trip! :thumbsup2

How about booking a fireworks cruise at MK or an Illuminations cruise at Epcot? I've read some good things here about them, and I think there is even a thread here that you can find other DIS'ers going the same time as you so you can book the cruise/split the cost.

I wanted to bump this thread. Thanks for all the ideas. Keep them coming Please.

Heather

I second the Richard Petty Driving Experience.. DH still talks about it!!

But thanks for the Segway idea... I can NEVER get DH to walk the entire way around the World Showcase (bad feet!!!)

I bought Disney t-shirts and stuff at the Disney Store before we left on our vacation (tight budget). I had a little "gift" for each of us each evening. DH loves getting surprise gifts. He is just a great big kid. I would go back to the room after we were all out the door for the day and would leave the gifts on the bed. Mousekeeping would lay them out after they cleaned the room. Everyone really enjoyed the gifts each evening.

doesn't the GF offer a couples massage? you could work that in with the romantic dinner or fireworks cruise-
does he have a scuba liscence? our DS loves the Dive Quest adventure. You do have to book in advance & there are discounts available. they supply all the equipment, he would just need a bathing suit. there are also some other water experiences that do not require a scuba liscense, they must also be booked in advance
I know my DH is looking forward to a Keys to the Kingdom tour, also need to book in advance & there is a fee w/discounts available~

A great surprise for both might be the Family Magic Tour at the Magic Kingdom. Relatively short money ($25 each) for a wonderful experience. The surprise start to the tour (pm me if you want the spoiler) could make it hilarious. It's a morning tour, so if you wanted to hop out to another park for the afternoon, you could, and it will create fabulous memories of time spent with your daughter.

I surprised my DH with the "King Experience" at the Richard Petty driving experience. It was pricey, around $1000, I think, but he was pretty blown away
I took a ride with a professional driver (around $80) while I was there and it was awesome!!! If you surprised your DH with that I think he'd love it. They told me beforehand that it was the best ride at Disney World and they weren't lying!! We got up to 150 MPH! I could barely breathe.

We have also used a company called "Gifts of a Lifetime" to arrange a treasure hunt in MK. Again, lots of fun and they will personalize the experience according to your favorite park and characters.

Have a great trip. You'll have a blast no matter what you choose.

just a thought if he's really into sports, and has never been to an ESPN restaurant before - there's one at the Boardwalk. I'm sure he would enjoy the multiple TV's and sports atmosphere.

What kind of things did you leave out for them besides t-shirts specially the stuff for you DH I would really like to do something like this but can not think of stuff for my DH please help so I can spread alittle magic to my husband as he is the one who pays for all these trips of mine!

just bumping this because I need some help with ideas for dh surprises!

Pick him up a nice gift from one of the parks, like a really nice watch and then go on the fireworks cruise. They have nice watches right on Main Street in MK. I also like the idea of a couples massage that someone else posted.

This will be our third trip to WDW, and I always organise surprises for DH. We do not have any kids, so in someways it's a little easier, as we don't have to take into consideration age limits or getting child care.

Here are the surprises from our first trip - we were on a tight budget so I prepurchased gifts and each morning while he was in the shower I left one on his pillow:
pair of boxer shorts with mickey on them
pack of playing cards
mickey golf balls
snacks - mickey pretzels, rice krispies etc
a Canadian mickey head pin and antenna ball
And he surprised me with tickets to Cirque de Soleil - worth every penny

The second trip I had more "play money" - I gave up Starbucks, gossip magazines, movie theatres etc (the luxuries) for six months and saved all the extra money I could and these are the suprises I arranged:
Wishes Cruise
Segway Tour
Gift Basket from FeralPeg
We were staying at POP Century, but DH really wanted to stay at Beach Club so I booked two nighs at the Beach Club, and to get him there I booked a scavenger hunt through Giftsof a Lifetime - the final clue was the key to our room!

For our upcoming trip:
I have booked the Backstage Magic Tour.
I am ordering another basket from FeralPeg
We are having afternoon tea at the GF (he knows about that), and I have ordered a small chocolate cake they will put a chocolate plaque that says "Thank you, love you" to be delivered at the end.
I wanted to booked Lunch with an Imagineer -but the only day they had available was the day of our tour, so that wouldn't work.

I hope you have a great trip.

Go see Cirque! We did this for a night instead of being in the parks and Dh and DD loved it. I got the cat 2 seats which are a little cheaper and we had a great view and a great time!

And one night Dh and I ate at yachtsman on the dining plan while DD hung out at the Neverland club. Then we waddled from Yacht club to the world showcase and toured around a little by ourselves. Had a drink and took the monorail back to the poly to get dd. It was great to have a little alone time and dd loved the neverland.
