We bought a new mattress a few weeks ago and as it turns out, my sheets don't fit on it. i think it's almost 2x as thick as our old mattress. where can i get reasonably priced sheets (preferably only the fitted sheets), and what should I be looking for to make sure they actually fit on our mattress?

thanks!

Look at places liek Home Goods & TJ Maxx. We got a king size bed that is super thick and I ended up getting a set at Macy's when they were having one of their pretty big sales. Most king sets were going for minimum $50-70 but I got a basic set for I think $30.

You need to make sure it says something like "deep pocket sheets" I think they say for mattresses 15 inches or larger? Now a days it seems like most are for the larger size mattresses - every set I checked had that on it. Yep - I just went to Macy's website and they have a section you can go to under sheets that says "Extra Deep."

We got some bedding stuff this year at Kohls when they were having a sale. They also seem to be sending us coupons lately- or try Bed Bath and beyond, they are always sending out 20% off coupons or $5 off 15 or more etc. (we tried that first and the Kohls sale ended up being cheaper). Enjoy your new mattress!

I love Target's Shabby Chic line... they're not terribly expensive (like $40 a set for king) and they are so crisp. Better than the Potterybarn ones IMHO (and I've owned several sets of those as well)

Burlington Coat Factory and Ross have great prices.

if you dont get the deep pockets it will not stretch over , th ebest ones I found were the ones that had the elastic along th elong sides of the bed if that makes sense . These were bought at Nordstroms during a sale , they do come in lots of different thread count 's. If you can do it give the 1000 coutn a shot it is like sleeping on a cloud! We put them on our Sleep Number bed and we are heaven

Well if you don't have a lot of money, wouldn't those clip straps work for now?? And every so often you can buy just a set once they go on sale. Or wait till after the holidays, target always has those jersey sets with solid colors and holiday wrapping, so they go for 50% off after christmas. Jersey and flannel are our favorite to use and they stretch really well with deep pockets.

Martha Stewart is switching from KMart to Macy's, so you can probably find MS sheets on clearance at KMart right now. She has some pretty good sheets.

This happened to us a few years back when we bought a new mattress. We are kind of picky about our thread count...I know spoiled! We seem to always wear out our fitted sheets first so I had a few extra top sheets that I just couldn't get rid of. I used those as our bottom sheets like hotels do using a hospital corner on all four corners. I found they stayed in place better than the fitted anyway. I still do this as we wear out bottom fitted sheets.

As for where to purchase, I like TJMaxx and Macy's white sales.

The ones I bought about two years ago from IKEA are the deep pocket kind (I don't know how they were labeled, if I knew that they were that kind I would not have purchased them). The side pockets are so deep they cover my mattress (an older thin one) AND the boxspring.

I have found that if I buy a sheet set, the fitted sheet usually will fit the mattress, but the flat sheet will not be wide enough to tuck in. Frustrating. I try to buy them separately, and I go up one size for the flat sheet.

Tuesday Morning, if you have one locally. Best deal on hi-count sheets, hands down.

I've had good luck at Big Lots for our king sheets. I got a new set in August that were 600 TC for $50. There were other sets ranging from 250-500TC that were less too - I think down to $25. They've washed well and are quite comfy. I've gotten queen sets from Ollie's for my daughter that were also quite inexpensive, but still quality.

Our bed needs 18" pockets. They are hard to find. Khol's has sheets for 18" pockets. We have found sheets at Macy's also.
