I need help pulling off a surpise!

I like both the train and FP idea.

Meeting for dinner isn't a bad idea either, but making an ADR would be hard if you are keeping it from your husband. Unless you went to DTD to eat. You can make some of those direct through the restaurants, so you could do it and just tell him you have a surprise planned for dinner at DTD, and then he wouldn't know how many the reservation was for.

We did something similar but arrival was late at night, so we didn't try to meet in the park. I told the kids if they were good, I had arranged for a present to be placed on their bed, and they could get it when we got back to the room. Then I had the surprise guest sit on the bed for them to find. It worked really well because we were in a suite with multiple rooms. They raced off so excited to unwrap their present only to find their friend on the bed. It was priceless.

I honestly think it will be hard to plan an elaborate meet as there are just too many variables that control arrival time. Late planes, buses, etc. Whatever I chose, I'd just make sure it was flexible enough to work with them showing up at different times.
