We will be there Sept 11-15th and we are from Phoenix. I read the averages are mid 80's and lows are mid 60's.

The last few times we were at Dland was in Nov and it was cold. this is different...its still HOT HOT in phoenix in Sept

can you help me decide what to take...shorts or ?? jeans?

I am hoping we can wear shorts with light jackets at night...but maybe we need to be prepared for colder?

help:goodvibes

Do you tend to be cold in general or do you run hot? I am usually cold and even living in Oregon, where it's definitely colder than Souther Cali, I still bring jeans and a jacket when I visit DL except for in the summer. Being used to the hot weather in Phoenix you may find that 60 - 70 degrees in the morning/evening to be quite chilly.

Don't know about Disney-Kim,,but we find 60-70 degree weather really pleasant. We're from Tucson and it's been 'muggy' down here. :(

Being from a dry part of Oregon and visiting Phoenix quite often lately, I would say you might be chilly in the mornings and at night. It is near the ocean, so the damp breezes coming in can feel cold to me, even though we are used to colder weather. (about like Flagstaff) I would bring some jeans and a lt. jacket - probably dress in layers. We have found the Fall weather to be kind of unpredictable - it might even rain.

I just looked at some averages...

if its still 75 by 8pm we are fine. that is nice. but we will be up early for going to the park and it could be chilly. I am still hoping to get away with shorts, tees, jackets.
we will bring jeans too. just to be safe.

thanks

The weather has been very strange this summer. We had very pleasant weather all July and most of August. Then it got very hot, now it has been cool the past few days. It is normally VERY hot in Aug./Sept. Check the weather about three days before you leave. As it is closer to fall it may cool off nicely in the evening. However who knows this year.

I'm also from Phoenix, and I find Disneyland to be hotter than the weather indicates. Does that make sense? Like 80 at Disney feels like 90 or 100 here. LOL I think it's a combo of the crowds, the sun, and all of the concrete. Is it just me or does anyone else feel that way?

I'm also visiting in a few weeks and I'm planning on shorts during the day, and jeans at night if I feel like going back to the hotel to change. We're staying at the DL Hotel so it's close, but between the walking and going up to the room and everything it'd still be a 30+ minute procedure to change so I'll have to decide if it's worth it at the time. It's probably a bit chilly in the morning so I'll start off with a long sleeve top, with a tank underneath. I'll be able to stash it in my handbag (and hope it doesn't get too wrinkled!) and then just put it back on at night.

Do we need to be concerned about rain at all? :( I hope not! I'm not planning for it but you never know.

Its only 2 weeks from now....will it really be cool enough for jeans?

If you're planning to watch WOC or Fantasmic, they're both close enough to water that they're quite chilly for me so I definitely wear jeans and take a jacket. DH -- not so much.

I very much doubt rain in September. I can't recall it ever happening.

I don't think we will be doing either. The parks close at 8 the first 3 nights of our visit and then Friday we have fireworks and it closes later but we have my 3.5 yr old neice with us so nights won't be late.

I know mornings will be chilly but I am hoping we can just do a jacket??

this sounds like our plan :)

Sounds like we'll be at Disney during the same time!! 11th, 12th and 13th, here! Maybe we'll run into each other :)

I'm also concerned about the weather, but mostly because I'm overweight and I'm praying for it to not be 100 degrees like it was on my last visit. If it rained, that would be a BLESSING to me. Born and raised oregonian, rain doesn't scare me! Though it does make me wonder, do rides close in the rain? I'm sure we have nothing to worry about though. I'm packing layers and I'm bringing a backpack, so I guess a jamming a hoodie in there wouldn't be out of the question.... right?

Oh good! I found this little thing on Weather.com

that says they average 1-3 rainy days in September so I was fully convinced it'll be the days I'm there. LOL

no no no...dont go by weather.com unless you want to add 5º to the temp and it never rains in Sept...

i notice a HUGE difference between sept and Oct. weather...in sept. it can literally be 90º and Im from CA and I freeze easy...I dont swim in less than 95º weather and in 70º weather at DL I have a jacket on...so this being said, being there in mid sept. I highly doubt you will need to change into pants...I would take a light jacket for the evening but you could pretty much get away with wearing shorts (except bootie shorts :rotfl:...they will make you freeze) and capris for sure at night and a sleeveless or short sleeve shirt..it gets really warm during the day but once the sun goes down its a bit on the cool side

I agree. I would bring pants but one pair of shorts because you never know if it's going to be that one surprise 90 degree day. And also a nice thick sweater, but one short sleeve in case.
