We are visiting from Canada and we do not own a cell phone(weird right?). And I know that makiing a long distance call from the resort rooms is REALLY expensive. Is there a place that I can feed a public phone some change in order to make a call home?

We did this when we went to Universal Studios and it came out pretty cheap. I am not sure if this can be done on WDW property....

Anybody know?

there are pay phones at the resorts and it the parks. why not purchase a prepaid phonecard and use that? :earboy2:

My boss always gets a calling card from Nobelcom.com I believe they are around $20 and you can use them from many different places. Its all pre-paid. May be worth seeing if it's right for you.

I doubt you'll find a less expensive way to phone home than these cards.

And if it weren't for my position at work, I'd not have a cell phone either. Darned annoying things....if I wanted people to phone me I'd be home near a phone not out having fun.

if you are going to buy a phone card try tel3.com. It's a rechargeable one that is hooked up to your credit card no never runs out of minutes. I use it for my home long distance all of the time, for about 3 years now

I call Canada every night when I am at WDW on my cell phone or I have also purchased a calling card for 1000 minutes depending on how long we are WDW. The calling cards work well I think but if I use my cell phone after 9pm I can call Canada free of charge which works out great for me.

Almost always it is cheaper to go over to or down to the hotel lobby to make phone calls instead of using the room phone.

Feeding a pay phone for long distance calls is not exactly cheap either, although hotel room phones cost more. You have to pay "operator assisted" rates that are much more than prepaid phone cards.

When shopping for a phone card, find out how much the pay phone "connect charge" or "per call" charge is which is in addition to the per minute charge for the country you are calling to.

My Mom and I use it for all our long distance calls even from our home phone. Very cheap per minute - no per call charges. I think they service calls orginating fromCanada also.

Kind of like a calling card but rechargeable on-line and if you "register" your home lines, you don't have to dial the access codes everytime you use the service, it will automatically recognize the phone number when you dial from it.

Of course, if you are dialing away from home, it works just like a calling card. We love it and our long distance has never been cheaper.
