Are they the most beautiful plant?

I have a bouginvilla tree that i keep potted and bring in during the winter. it always drops ALL it's leaves when i bring it in and then comes back nicely. It needs a nice sunny window, not much water and some warmth inside. good luck.

I'm having the exact same problem. Last year I brought it in and it dropped all of its leaves, then started to grow again in March, but never did flower this summer. What am I doing wrong?

Welcome to the F&G Board, DisOrBust, and Peggy!!!! :D :Pinkbounc :D

Amid's advice is right on, and here's a little more info on Bougainvillea that includes a Troubleshooting section.

We'd love to hear more about your plants and/or gardens. :)

Welcome DisOrBust and PoohBWV! :)

I have two bougainvillea plants that live outside. Last winter they dropped their leaves. This year the leaves grew back and I waited and waited and waited for the plants to grow like crazy and fill out. They are still teenie-tiny and didn't bloom. I think I need to move them to a sunnier part of the yard.

We planted some gorgeous fuchsia ones at my parent's house. They bloomed wonderfully for a month, then dropped the "flowers" and grew, grew, grew. Then a bunch of leaves dropped (after we'd had a tremendous amount of rain over a short period of time). I think the ground was too wet. Anyway, the leaves have filled back in but no more flowers. Hopefully next year will be better.

Thanks for the Welcome!

This is my 3rd attempt. The first year I brought it in it did AWESOME! Bloomed in Jan and March. Last years lost all the leaves and looked pathetic so I tossed it. Now this one is lossing leaves. Maybe there are different varieties that are more tolerant? Oh well, only 2 more months and the xmas tree comes, LOL!!
