I need help from my computer geeks friends!

Hi everyone, today I discovered that I had send (without knowing) through facebook mail (private message) a spam to all my facebook friends (I'm so sorry If you got one), does anyone knows how I can delete it? Or if I can do anything about it? I've scanned my computer with the antivirus many times but apparently it doesn't catch it! Help!!

Don't worry about it. The computer is a fad. It will be here today and gone tomorrow, just like the automobile and telephone.

Really the only thing you can do is scan the computer (which you already did) and change your facebook password. If you use the same password for anything else...don't...but if you do change all of those as well.

If you are using a PC make sure it is fully patched and run the Malicious Software Removal Tool. Click start -> Run -> type MRT and do a full scan. It will take a while but it is very good and checking for root kits and other malicious files buried deep in the file system.

Oh, and if you really want to be careful (read: anal) you can force an SSL connection by typing out https://facebook.com and making sure you are not on a phishing site. It is likely a link you clicked asked you to sign back in when it was a site made to look like facebook at a different URL.

I love the DIS boards, I told my mom I'm going to post this question on the DISboards and I bet I get a response better and faster than asking my Facebook friends!

I got your message on facebook, I just deleted it, but I would do as Frank recommends.

I totally get you with the asking Dis for quick answers! I once had to decontaminate a kitchen sink (my housemate threw up in it, and although he had 'cleaned' it, I didn't trust it for a minute!), and I got the best, quickest and wittiest answers from the Dis (I think it was Reid who told me to use his favourite shirt as a sponge! )
