We'll be in WDW with our kids for the first time for Mother's Day 2010!! Apparently Disney doesn't do anything for Mother's Day so I need some suggestions!! Where would you Mom's like to have breakfast or dinner on Mother's Day if you were in WDW?? And what suggestions would you have for things to do in WDW for Mother's Day?? :confused3 We'll be there 7 days, but didn't plan to go to the parks every day, in the event that you have suggestions outside the parks themselves!!

And if you have any suggestions for places the kids would enjoy while were in WDW I'd love to have them too!! We're considering Chef Mickey one morning while we're there.

Thanks!!! :woohoo:

Hi,

We were in Disney for Mother's Day last May! We went to CM for breakfast! The characters interaction was great! Pluto made a BIG deal over me being a mother! He wanted a pic. of the 2 of us! It was great! Donald kissed my hand at the table! My "kids" loved it!! When we entered AK they passed out flowers made from paper, it was a nice touch!:thumbsup2

Being a Mom myself, I say "What does Mom want to do?" Is there somewhere that Mom would like to go? to do?

If it is Mother's Day, then I would think you would definately want to do something that Mom would enjoy.

If you go to the parks, you could always have some t-shirts made up for the kids to wear that day that say something like "Our Mom is the Best Mom in the World" or something like that in order to bring special recognition to her in the middle of a family vacation.

How about a tiaria for her to wear and a sash "Queen for the Day" ...

Lots of ways to celebrate and let her know that you all appreciate her!

Hmmm, I love the t-shirt idea and the tiara too! Not sure I'd wear it but I'd love to do that to my mom!

I'd love a nice relaxing lunch with a cheese plate for my Mother's Day lunch, but that's just me! :lmao: So I'm thinking Flying Fish or California Grill!

RRelax by the pool for a little while and maybe dinner at the Poly, Captain cookes idon't care and then a shopping trip at the Poly gift shop and If I don't find something there hop on the monorail to the Contemp gift shop. They have great jewelry . I'm thinking mickey pearl head....oohh then top it off with a trip to Ghiradellis downtown for van hot fudge sundae no nuts all by myself....

Neither of these restaurants serve lunch.

My choice would be breakfast at Boma, followed by spending the morning in either a park or at the pool. Mid-afternoon we'd head to the Grand Floridian for afternoon tea (not at all stuffy...the food is delicious and it's such a nice experience) and then we'd finish up by spending the evening either at a park, at Downtown Disney or just hanging out at our resort.

Ok, as a Mom who will be there on Mother's Day, I have to say, I am undecided. We plan on being in Epcot since they have the nicest restaurants and it worked out with our plan. As of right now, I have 2 Options. We are staying at BCV.

1st - breakfast at Cape May Cafe and dinner at Akershus. We had lunch at Akershus and we loved it. I really liked the Cold buffet, so that is why we would do that again.

2nd - breakfast at Akershus and dinner at Le Cellier/Tutto Italia. Cape May breakfast another day.

I have a DD who loves princesses so Akershus on our Epcot day is a must. Plus we really enjoyed it in Sept. I am leaning in for Option 2 as I think a nice dinner (non-character) would be more special. However, with Option 2, we have to pay OOP for a meal so.... DH says whichever I want, it's my day. Honestly, I can't think of a better day than being at WDW so it doesn't matter to me. This is so special as we just went in Sept. and I didn't think we would go again so soon!

So honestly, I would recommend a nice dinner at Le Cellier or Tutto Italia.

Thanks for the ideas so far!! :cheer2: My wife wouldn't wear a tiara, I wish she would!! She's a WONDERFUL mother, and my kids are so lucky!! If she has her way she'd sit by the pool all day!! And that may be the plan!! But I figured we'd at least make sure she had a good breakfast and dinner!! I want to make sure it's special for her, but I'm sure she'll probably want to do something fun with the kids too!!

Any other ideas Moms??? :confused3

How very thoughtful!!

I am not a big fan of breakfast - but I have wanted to try the Eggs Benedict at Grand Floridian Cafe. For dinner I have always enjoyed California Grill or Citrico's as a 'special' place.

We were in Orlando last year for Mother's Day and we actually had brunch offsite at a restaurant in the Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Studios -- it was outstanding!

My kids love Chef Mickey's as well as Crystal Palace and 'Ohana's Best Friend Breakfast--I really enjoy seeing them interact with the characters :>

Enjoy your trip!

LOL! Well, that figures! Changed my mind then. UM, I'd like to have lunch at Chefs de France then! I know they're open for lunch! Then I'd stroll over to Japan and have my daughters pick a pearl for me and a setting for it to go in!

For me, as a mom of 4 adult kids, I would give almost anything to take a trip back in time and be at WDW WITH my kids on Mothers Day. Don't get me wrong...I am thrilled with my family and their families. It is just that some days you miss the times your kids were younger and living under your roof. So from my prospective, If I were a mom with my kids at WDW on Mothers Day I would want to spend the time WITH my kids, watching them enjoy every aspect of WDW. A nice breakfast or character breakfast, a CS lunch and then a nice dinner at a TS restaurant....and then Watching WISHES with my kids. I think the t-shirt idea is great. The only other thing that would be extra special is maybe a break from the park and a massage as the Grand Floridian. HEAVEN! What a great DH you must be.

I am still crossing my fingers that they bring the Epcot Mother's Day Brunch back from 2 years ago. I just missed it by a day 2 years ago. I am holding my late morning/early afternoon open just in case.

Otherwise, I think a nice meal at any of the resorts would be a great option.
Or you could consider the Gospel Brunch at House of Blues. That is what we will be doing if the Epcot Brunch doesn't pan out.

ITA - its your family - its your memories!!

With your kids on the younger side - I'd probably do Epcot - do the Kim Possible journey then have lunch at Le Chef de France (and maybe - just maybe Remy will make a run thru appearance - if not, its still France!! He was scheduled to only be there for a few months... no one is sure when or if he's scheduled to leave that I've read so far anyway...)

Then, head over to Japan and do the "pick a pearl" for $14 your kids can pick a very ugly (the uglier on the outside, the prettier on the inside!!) oyster, they will open it up, and viola - a perfect memory - they have settings at Japan in Sterling Silver - I had mine set in a heart - and brought a sterling silver chain (got from Kohls or Jc Penny for $10 - tarnish free!! 50% off!)

OR...

Not sure where you are staying - but consider having some flowers delivered from disney florist!

http://www.disneyflorist.com/

I've made calls after looking at their offerings online - for dd I always get the snack pack (I think its $40 now?? but she loves having the snacks, candy, pop, chips)

and my favorite is the tropical floral arrangement - it lasts - but the high price is off putting - I called and they were able to take my budget into account and made a gorgeous arrangement!! (fewere flowers!!)

Also a meal at Ohana at the Polynesian is fun for the kids, and such a beautiful setting - go outside to the beach after an early dinner and watch WISHES from the beach! Lovely memory!!

Good Luck - as PP said, you cant go wrong - you are at Disney!!

I would enjoy a sleep in with breakfast in bed...:thumbsup2 then afternoon tea at GF, and end the day with a Pirate and pals fireworks cruise (for the Kids of course ;) ) thats if they are still doing them in the spring...

I would enjoy lunch at Chefs and tea at GF.

Here is a shirt I made for me and the one I made for my DDs for our trip in January.

They came from the DISigns board.

We were in Disney World on Fathers day this year. We had breakfast at Ohana, went to the parks for a few hours, and then I had booked a massage for my husband at the Grand Floridian spa...He had a wonderful relaxing massage, and I took the kids back to our room for a nap. How about a massage for your wife!

I love the massage idea!!!
I would book breakfast at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian then book her a massage right there at the GF! Then she can have the afternoon to spend poolside! Sounds like a perfect day to me!!:goodvibes
You can even go to the Creative Disigns board and have an invitation printed for the breakfast and massage once you have them booked!

I wanted to be in WDW for Mother's Day but we're leaving the day before. If I was able to do whatever I wanted too, I would choose Cape May breakfast and afternoon tea at GF or a message. But then again a mother of 3 little girls, watching an afternoon parade without having to go back to the hotel for naps would be nice.

Treat mom like a princess (queen) and go to CRT - the food is yummy and love the castle.
