We opended my dd's shuffle yesterday.....

Had to buy USB extender to charge it......

So now we have itunes loaded onto our computer...have some songs in the library but her ipod fails to show up in the Sources list....

Is this because it is not charged yet? (It is plugged in now and the light is amber)

I know it needs fours hours of charging first time.....

Is it maybe not showing up because light isn't green yet?

She really loves this ipod but at this point I really think an MP3 might be easier.....

Call Apple. My dad got a shuffle and had the same issue. It was defective, and they ended up sending him a new one.

My DD got one too. We have been charging it but still get nothing. I'm at a loss. Anyone have any ideas?

Have you checked the Apple website yet? There is a support area for every Apple product, Shuffle included where people can post about similar problems and what they have done to fix it. Also, check to see if there are any new files for it as well. I don't have a Shuffle so I can't help you further than that, sorry.

Wow, I'm seeing so many questions about the IPOD's! Maybe that's why the guys at Best Buy and Circuit City advised us against buying one, and we took their advice! We bought an iAudio 20 GB (similar with video and all) and haven't had one single problem. (crossing fingers it stays that way!)

Hope you get it figured out soon! :goodvibes

DS says try the USB ports in the back of your hard drive. His doesn't work on the front port, but his brothers does work on the front port. Go figure. I have no idea what I am talking about, luckily they figured their shuffles out on their own.

I had problems with my i-Pod that I received for Christmas- computer wouldn't "see" it, even after I installed the program CD. Went to apple and downloaded an updater, and it worked fine.

Yep Apple mentions this as well. The front ports on the computer may not be powerful enough.

i waited a half hour for tech support...restored...restored again....

I do have it plugged in the front part with an extender....

I'll have to try changing it to the back.....

(we do have a sensa MP3 player 1gb as a back up plan but she really wanted the IPOD.... )

I always wondered why all the questions... then I saw the instruction NO HELP manual with the book....

For what you pay it shouldn't be that hard....

Mine were too powerful, they've burned up 4 shuffles, Apple keeps sending me new ones, they said if this last one went, that's definately what it was.

ahhhh a true christmas miracle....... (said in the tone of the mother from movie "Better off dead")

I switched the cord to only remaining USB port in the back (got two printers attached)

It's played two songs so far...

Quick knock on some wood or something..............

It's funny that the Apple tech never asked me where it was plugged into...

Working on the 2nd shuffle...this is the 3rd day...it shows that it's charged, but I don't think it is. I actually went to Radio Shack and bought a dock for it...but the computer doesn't even see it. Maybe I'll switch it to the back port and hope for the best.

Half the time, the computer would say there wasn't anything in the drive, even though it recognized that "X's Ipod" was there. Very confusing...for the $99 spent on each, I've suffered WAY more aggravation, and wish I didn't give in at the last minute and buy TWO of them. :faint:

Two phone calls to Service, of over an hour each...this shouldn't be that hard.

Gave DH one for Xmas. He plugged it in the back, charged it for awhile, not sure how long, and it works fine. He really likes it, he is going to use it mostly when he works out.

Anyone have any additional input? We're still suffering shuffle pains...
