I need help! Disney messed up my plans

Does anybody know whether we will be allowed to do a small pre-reception for about an hour at the St James Room and order some fruit trays or something and extend our bar package to 3 hours so as aour guests can go straight there and wait for us and then have the actual buffet served at about 4.30pm, or are pre-receptions not allowed with the Escape package?
Thanks

I was allowed to extend my cake and champagne celebration and have fruit and drinks at that.

Could someone please tell me what is this new escape package minimum everyone here is talking about? :scared1:
I bought the Passporter's wedding guide a few months ago and the escape package was about $5000... I'm scared to hear your answers, but I have to plan for the worse :headache:

Thank you!

EDIT : I just found the answer to my own question in another thread! Seems like it only applies to wedding on saturday or sunday. I was really beginning to worry.

It applies to weddings on a Saturday and Sunday and to weddings which have a private event attached eg a private catered meal or a dessert party.

I'm having the ssame problems now due to this stupid new rule.

Original idea was 5pm ceremony at SBP then evening reception in the Napa room @ Cali Grill. As the F&B min after 5pm is $3000 meeting the $7500 wouldn't have been a problem HOWEVER overall costs of the wedding, travel, villa and the fact we are having to pay for DFi was really starting to mount up and we decided it was going to cost too much and we needed to make some cut backs if we wanted to have any chance of saving the money to actually do it.
So my new plan was 12pm ceremony at SBP with lunch in Napa room ending by 4pm which would only have F&B min of $1000 which i presumed we'd be able to book through the restuarant or some kind of other Disney events and then book the Grand 1 yacht to see Wishes as it's important to me to watch it on the wedding day and costing only around $500 that means only around $6500 total

Well i have to agree that the rule is stupid but I'm willing and determined to work with it and come up with an alternative!

Our thoughts are now that we have 12pm ceremony at SBP and then have a lunch reception at the attic between 2-4pm and then meet up in the evening for the Illuminations DP.

I didn't really want a break because i didn't want my guests to feel like a spare part but i think if we compromise on this then we can have the day we originally wanted and within the budget we were looking at
