Can anyone provide me with some great money saving tips for Great Wolf lodge? What's worth it, what isn't?

The kids have been dying to go and I bit the bullet and booked for a day during Christmas break. My middle daughter is using her birthday money for a treatment in the spa..is there anything that is more worth it than not there? I probably should book that in advance as well.

I know we can get there around 1pm on arrival day and play all day the second day. We will definitely do that.

What about food? We are going to be bringing in lots, but will probably order pizza for dinner one night (it looks like the pizzas are $12 for a 16 inch on the website, so maybe 2 or 3 for our family of 5 depending on how hungry they are...) So $40 for dinner isn't all bad. I doubt we will go off site (does any place deliver there, if need be?)

I was thinking of giving the kids a snack bar budget, but I couldn't find the prices on the website. Anyone remember on that?

Is the magicquest worth it? What about the gr-8 space? Thank you so much!

We are going to Williamsburg specifically, if it makes a difference.

Thanks so much!!!! I was looking for a GWL planning forum like this one for DW..dang it, I don't think it exists. I am trying to plan our itinery here. :rotfl:

we took our son.
bring a cooler of your own snacks. u are allowed to have them in your room.
the buffet is so high priced. i think it was 29 per adult. dont remember kids rates. there was also a pizza hut express. but its microwaved pizza :(
i do recommend going into williamsburg to eat. there is a walmart right up the street from there. in the parking lot is ihop and sonic. and the mcdonalds is in the walmart .

how long are you staying. might wanna venture out to richmond road,. there you will find ruby tuesday, olive garden . taco bell. a bunch of places to eat
i dont think the hotel allows the delievery of food.. why would then when they sell it.. LOL they wont let anyone eles make that money

the magic quest proved to be very time consuming. and fustrating for my then 7 year old. he spent hours trying to defeat the dragon at the end. he left crying.
we stayed in the williamsburg location 1/09

My kids absolutely loved the Magicquest. We did it the morning that we were checking out and we really wished we had started it the night before because there was so much to do and we didn't have a lot of time before we had to get back on the road. We just got one wand and let the kids take turns doing the different quests. It is a ton of walking up and down steps and all over, but it was really fun for them.
We didn't do anything else other than that and the water park.

If you are only going for one day I would not even bother to get the whole wand and do magi quest--it takes a long time to complete the quest.
We have gone to Great Wolf Lodge many times but we never wait until 1pm to get there- they TELL you that you can get there as early as 1 but we would go at 9am and they would preregister us and give us the water park bands then- sometimes our room was already ready and other times the room wouldn't be ready until 5-6pm!
Honestly everything there is pretty expensive. The spa treatments are SO not worth it- take your daughter to a local place by you and she owuld have a better time and it would be half the price!
The water park is fun and if you are only gonig to be there for the one night between the water park and the arcade that would take up all your time!
