Now you've caused my great ego and pride to go into sentimental overload and I have to post Spike's picture. I got him 17.5 years ago by walking into the SPCA and asking "who's been here the longest that no one else wants?" He's been with me ever since. In January of 2001, he was diagnosed with chronic renal failure and I was told "get used to it, he's probably not going to make it more than three months."
We took him to the vet a month ago and although he's hardly in remission (I could lose him any day and accept it), his renal numbers actually dropped, which is the right direction. He's half blind, totally deaf, and overloved. Can't you tell? And he goes to Amy's side of the bed every night like he knows I need company.
So just for the record, anyone that says cats don't kiss, I'll slap yer whiskers off!

And what a cute kitty.
