Cereal!!!!!!! Arghhhh. It is always on sale. 5 for $10, $1.88, etc. When the cereal I like goes on sale I buy it. We currently have 15 boxes of cereal!

Oh and soda. Those 4 for $10 really get us too. We have 10 12 packs in the garage right now.

i'm right there with you...This week Giant Eagle had Post Cereals 5 for $8 then you'd get a $5 off your next shopping trip coupon at the register, so I've been going back all week. I get 5 more boxes it comes to 8 bucks then I give them my $5 off coupon and wa-la 5 for 3..we are set till next summer!!

Giant Eagle is where I go too. I didn't know about the Post Cereal deal. This week they had Count Chococula, Boo Berry and Franken Berry on sale. We got 5 boxes! lol

I always seem to spend more when I have coupons or things are on sale. :confused3

I have $1.20 in fuel perks now though. :thumbsup2

Yep, same problem here too. I have so much cereal, fruit snacks and boxes of cake mix that it's insane. If it's a good deal I can't pass it up....

I had to cut myself off from buying cereal a while ago. We don't have much storage space and it was getting out of hand. I think we have about 3 boxes left at this point. Once we're down to one box I'll let myself buy more. Same thing with Kraft mac 'n cheese. It was on sale 2/$1 for a while and I went a little nuts.

What's worse is that I'll see deals like that and won't buy the cereal, because DH and I don't usually eat cereal. Then the second the sale ends, DH asks me for Fruity Pebbles or whatever, cuz he has a craving, and I have to pay full price.

If I take a chance and stock up, DH won't touch the stuff and it either goes bad or I wind up donating it (that's a good thing in the long run, of course).

I can't win for losing around here!

Haha, if I were you when he gets those "cravings" I'd tell him, "Sorry, it's not on sale this week!" We're not at all brand loyal, we eat whatever is on sale that we like.

You made me laugh out loud. I can ask DH if there's anything he wants at the store 10 times before I go shopping and he'll say no. Then as I'm putting away the groceries, he'll ask "why don't you ever buy XXXX anymore?" So frustrating!

Pop and cereal disappear so fast in my house! I get ridiculously excited for good sales on that stuff. :)

this reminds of something my mother once told me when I asked her why she wasn't taking advantage of some FABULOUS coupon. "It's only a great deal if I would by it in the next month anyway." I've pretty much followed this rule. Yeah, I miss out out on the occasional "steal" but at least I'm sure I can use what I buy.:thumbsup2

I thought that I (and Jerry Seinfeld) was the only one who did this! I have about 15 boxes, too. Some are opened, half empty. I always put the cereal in a large ziploc bag right after it's opened, because I know it may get stale before we finish it. My pantry is so overflowed, I am storing boxes of cereal on the floor.

And I just started a low carb diet...:guilty:

Yea I'm bad too!
This week Kroger has Velvetta shells and cheese for .99 after $5.00 off if you bought 10 and I had a bunch of coupons for $1.50 off of 2 boxes.
So .24 a box and yes we have 40 boxes and the babysitter has 30. And the first 10 boxes I bought had coupons on them for a free Kraft BBQ sauce with the purchase of 2 boxes of Shells and cheeese. So it was $2.50 for 10 boxes of Shells and Cheese and 5 bottles of BBQ sauce! :woohoo:

I find I'm buying cereal almost every trip to the store, but that's because we're eating it!! :rotfl:

We have Publix & Kroger down here and I tend to do more shopping at Publix because they have better deals and because my DS's private school gets a kickback from them. I bought Cocoa Puffs this week for a $1.49 a box after I used a coupon for $1/2. And then I had a Vocalpoint coupon for a box of free Rice Krispies and got a $3.99 box of cereal for free! I'll use that to make rice krispies treats. I also have a coupon for a free box of Kashi cereal and I'll go back and use that when we start running low on cereal again.

I buy cereal when I can match it with coupons and get a really good deal.

I'm that way with CVS stuff too! I think I have 15 toothpastes and a dozen hair colors--I'm on a freeze there--only once a month--to roll my ECB :goodvibes

Cereal ebbs and flows at my house. 1 week they go through 3 boxes and then don't touch it for 4 months so it's hard to know when to stop stocking up! I have about 10 boxes right now so I stopped for a bit.

I have way too many cake mixes so I had to stop with that too.

I also stock up when cereal goes on sale. But DH eats a TON of cereal a week. He goes through about 5-6 boxes a week. If i can get it for $2 or less a box i stock up. It's what he eats for breakfast and snacks. He doesn't eat chips and all that but still, it's a lot of cereal. i try to ahve 3 weeks' worht in the house.

Oh, and let us not forget that as soon as the boxes of cereal are open, they are poisonous to a teenager and they won't ever touch that opened box again. DH knows exactly how he gained weight...KIDS WON'T FINISH FOOD!

There HAS to be another Acme (or SuperValu family store like Shaws, Cub, Jewel's) shopper on the Dis who has a TON of cereal from the past month, right? I've got 60 boxes of Total, at least 30 boxes of various Cheerios and Kix, probably another 30ish of Kellogg's Raisin Bran etc. And then there are the granola bars... I didn't pay "real money" for any of the General Mills and am making money on the Kelloggs items once I receive various rebates.

The best-by dates on the cereals are all for next spring. The five of us (two teens) will have no problem eating all that cereal by then. No worries about the cereal going stale once opened as I only permit 3 different boxes of cereal in the kitchen cabinet at a time. I do have lots of basement storage space!

The SuperValu chains have been inundated with fabulous catalina promotions since mid-August (those Buy $XX Get $Y to use on your next purchase deals). The best thing about SuperValu is that the promotions are based on the regular shelf prices of the items, not the advertised sales. It's possible to "roll" the oyno catalina coupons from one transaction to the next. Using coupons and rolling, one can get the items for FREE or only pennies each. It's fabulous :) We've enjoyed Unilever, Betty Crocker/General Mills (twice), Proctor & Gamble (numerous), Johnson & Johnson, ConAgra and so on.

That's what I do too......
