I know I will be cursed by some for bringing this topic up. If a child will be an inch too short at the time of trip (for certain rides) what is the best way to gain that extra 1/2-1 inch needed to ride? I get the safety concerns and all and not looking for a lecture on the topic. I am sure I am not the only one to come across this and I am sure some have found ways to get the extra height needed and survived to tell the tale.

They're on to the old high shoes and high hair tricks. Really, they have to grow naturally.

I tried to see if I could get my daughter abit higher but she needs half an inch after shoes which is too much. If this is your case I doubt you can do it. You can buy trainers with hidden heels in but the cm will probably tell your child to take their shoes off if they spot them.

I had a little girl with NO fear. Wanted to ride everything anywhere, not only
Disney:) The way I added a bit of height is by a cute "fountain" pony tail right on the top of her head. Not one CM at Disney ever asked me to take it down to measure her. Of course she was just under the height restriction. If she was obviously smaller, they would most likely ask. But then if she was that small I wouldn't have even tried.
Now she's 17, taller than me and will sometimes tease me that I need to check my height :rolleyes2 She's so funny.

If you have a boy, I can't help you there.

The best way to get an under-height child on a ride is to wait until that child is *honestly* tall enough.

Some have suggested socks or other extra inserts inside the shoes at the heel. Not sure how much that would help.

Maybe dress them up like Woody or Jessie with boots ;)

Cms will mush down high hair and have the kid take off shoes- they will be measured at different points in line a couple of times too, if 1 says no- they can't ride. Be safe wait until they are actually tall enough. I think it is against the rules here anyway to help people get around the rules anyway so you probably won't get many answers.

Hang the kid upside down by their heels for an hour every night leading up to the trip. :lmao:

Considering "safety" is one of the four keys (#1 of the 4) that Disney lives by and their CM's breathe.... I doubt if there is any question to your child height you will be told your child can not go on the ride.

I don't know if it will get you an inch... but I used to be a nanny in Orlando and I would take the kid to the parks all the time. Before riding a ride I knew the kid was just under the height limit for, we would stop in the bathroom and I took paper towels and folded them over and over again into squares. Then I put the paper towel squares into the heels of his shoes. Carried him over to the measuring bar and plopped him up. Got him on every time! (But I can't remember how much height I needed to add.) Try it at home before you go!

There are none.

Discussing ways to get around Disney policy is not allowed on the boards.

Shoes, really, my runners add about an inch to my height a good pair of running shows like Asics, or Saucony ...

A friend of mine did the rolled-up pair of socks inside the first pair of socks under the heel and worked every time.

LOL at some people on here....

When are you going? Is there a chance of a growth spurt? Right now, mine is on the 38" line, but I'm confident she will grow that extra few inches before the trip.

My 3 and a half year old is 38 1/2 inches tall, and she is dying to ride the 40inch rides...we leave in 3 weeks, and we are just out of luck. If it was only a half an inch we might be okay with sneakers, but nope :(

I am with you on the LOL. You would think I asked the most secret place to have sex in the park or something.

To me teaching a child that safety rules are made to be broken is much worse.

You may as well ask "Are car seats really necessary, after all, what are the odds we will get in a crash? They are such a pain to use" or "Does my teenager really need to wear a seatbelt? He argues with me about it all of the time!'

It is pretty unbelievable that people ask this sort of question and expect to be taken seriously. Seriously.

Speaking of which....where is that? LOL

DD4 is in the same situation (1/2" short). I'm not gonna lie...extra insoles in her runners. I'm not even going to start up on the whole "safety factor" thing when it comes to rides at WDW. At 39.5" she will be perfectly fine.

Bring on the flames people...bring em on.

never mind

My kid is 40.5 now so we hit the magic 40in for DW. I was hoping to hit 42 by memorial day for a ride or 2 at DW but 42 is a bigger # at IOA and US. There are 3-4 rides there that 42in makes it a more desirable destination.
