I was wondering if you buy a MYW ticket as a FL resident do you have to show ID everytime you use it? We have some friends from FL and were wondering if they could buy our tickets for us. We are on a strict budget! Can someone help me out? I have to go back to work soon and I need to know, it's driving me crazy!

I'm not sure, but I would guess since all tickets now require you to do the finger scan thing when you enter the parks, that they would ask for ID the first time you use the tickets, to verify that you are a FL. resident, and thereafter only the same person could use the ticket, due to the scan.

Although I don't know this for sure, I would bet that you would have to show ID the first time you use the ticket, and then get your finger scanned. Otherwise, everyone in the world would do what you are thinking about doing, and no one would pay the correct price for their tickets. I'm willing that they aren't just going to let you in with a Florida ticket without verifying your ID. I guess you'll have to pay full price like the rest of us.

I don't know for sure, but I doubt that your plan would work. My DS and his wife live in FL, but my DS had not gotten his NY license changed. His wife did, and she was able to purchase a FL resident ticket. He was not able to, and she did try, but no luck. This was his impetus to update his license.

You cannot purchase a FL res ticket without showing ID because they print your name on the ticket. If your friends bought the tickets they'd have to use their names and then when you went to use the ticket it would scan your fingers. However, if you lost your ticket, or the scan messed up and they asked for photo ID(which they do) your ticket would not match your ID and you'd be up a creek....

Welcome to the DIS!!

Sorry. No can do, Buck-a-roo.

Since you're on a strict budget, I would recommend that you read the Budget Board: http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=22 . You'll find plenty of ways to save money on your vacation without breaking the rules.

replies. I just looked at the ticket prices and it actually wouldn't save that much money anyway! I planned this trip for the four of us and we're leaving my dad(our checkbook LOL) at home! Thanks to most of you for not getting nasty!

That's what I thought too! It just sounded like the OP was implying that some people were nasty and I was confused  . I guess I'm reading too much into other people's posts again! It wouldn't be the first time, LOL!

Seems to me the only one who was being nasty in this post was the OP trying to cheat Disney and the state of Florida. OP: pay your fair share like everyone else, please, or move to Florida and pay taxes there. Seeing as how the OP apparently lives in PA, I think it's very inappropriate to ask people on a Disney-fan message board how to cheat Disney and Florida residents whose tax dollars help fund that FL resident discount. :sad2:

IIRC, there's no state income tax in FL.

Hmmm...climate, check. Proximity to WDW, check. FL resident discount on WDW tix, check. No state income tax, check. Heck, what am I waiting for?

And this sounds a lot like fraud to me.

exactly....I love Florida and am a Native but I am sick of hearing about people trying to take advantage of "our" discounts.

I don't think anyone is trying to "cheat" here...it was a question regarding saving money. I think we can all agree that WDW is expensive to visit, and most people look for ways to save money. Regardless of whether this plan will work or not, I don't think Disney will go under if people did do that.

Can't we all just get along????

OK, I'm not getting into the argument. Just asking a question!

How do tax dollars support a discount at WDW? I can't imagine the Florida government subsidizing it.

Again, not arguing! I'm sure you're right! I just can't figure out how.

I'd hate to see your definition of cheating if this isn't it.
