I need advice on purchasing a camcorder

I was advised to seek the expert advice from this forum concerning the purchase of either a sony or a panasonic camcorder!! We are going to WDW for the second time in our lives as a family a trip in early December and we have decided to get a small camcorder!! The choice so far is between the smaller(mini) sony or (mini)panasonic!! Does anybody have any personal information concerning either of these as I would like to get it soon to understand how it works!! We are just amateurs and don`t need something that is too complicated but yet takes good movies!! Thanks for any info you can give us!!

I can't make any personal recommendations, but you might want to go look at www.camcoderinfo.com.

Whichever one you go for, make sure it takes miniDV tapes - both hard drive and DVD variants aren't fantastic compression, so makes for a less-than-great picture, IMO.

I personally am biased towards Sony, but that's just me. I own a Panasonic digital camera, too.
