My husband has never been a fan of the food at DL or DCA. I know that menus have changed and new places have been added since our last trip.
He likes typical American food and is mostly a meat-and-potatoes guy.
I am hoping the guys out there can tell me what their favorite foods are at DL and DCA so I can steer my husband toward meals he will enjoy.
Thanks!!

Sorry I'm not a guy, but I'll speak on behalf of my really picky meat-and-potatoes husband! He loves Plaza Inn's chicken dinner (as do I). Awesome chicken, yummy mashed potatoes with gravy, great veggies, and a biscuit. He likes the pot roast there too.

I'll second the Plaza Inn suggestion. Really good "man food". :)

Also consider the BBQ in FrontierLand.

Another vote here for Plaza Inn for lunch/dinner. If you're doing a character meal, AG has good tri-tip. I also enjoy the corn dog that is made from a hot link at the Corn Dog Castle. I am also looking forward to trying the steak nachos at WWS on my next trip. My male friends order mainly burgers from Hungry Bears and TPG, but I am a little more of a food snob. I can't justify buying something that I can make better at home or just get at Burger King. I go for taste over filling at the parks. I prefer to eat seafood and specialty foods while touring and fill up at the hotel later if needed.

DBF is a huge fan of the Big Thunder BBQ! We eat there often. :) It may not be smoked but it is good!!! He also likes the regular corn dogs (but he doesn't like spicy food so much), the Lobster Nachos at the Cove Bar (we share those), he likes the Tri Tip at AG, the cioppino at AG, he likes Rancho Del Zocalo in DL and the chicken at the Plaza Inn. Oh also at DCA he loves the Wild Bleu Yonder Burger at Taste Pilots Grill, I do too but I get mine with no steak sauce and add BBQ sauce from the condiment bar, he gets his with the steak sauce but he adds BBQ as well. lol

I'm not a man either, but I can tell you what my Dh likes. He liked the corn dogs, the chicken at plaza Inn. We had lunch at BTRBBQ, but we will get dinner next time so we can have the corn and sausage. He liked Carnation Cafe for the soup and beef sandwich. He loved the cinnamon rolls and treats from the Jolly Holiday bakery. Edited to add that he really likes the burgers at Taste Pilots Grill too.

My husband love the Citrus Chicken from French Market. It comes with mashed potatoes, corn bread and seasonal veggies. He would eat there everyday of our trip if he could.....

I know my boyfriend and all of his brothers absolutely love BTR BBQ, like many have said. They also loved the Hungry Bear place near Splash, and the hot dog place in DCA.

I'm gonna agree with both the Plaza Inn fried chicken and the corn dog, but if you are making a list of food manly meat and potatoes guys like, what could be more sterotypically manly than going Henry VIII style with a whole turkey leg?

Im a meat and potatoes guy and the Big thunder BBQ is my favorite place in the parks by a mile. We plan to eat there 3 times our next trip (DW loves it too). I havent triede the fried chicken at the plaza but it also sounds good. And any of the CS burgers are fine for me as well though I dont love them. They are good for a quick meal when Im not starving.

I tried the turkey leg and was not impressed at all. Didnt have any kind of seasoning that I could taste on it, just a plain turkey leg. I wont eat that again.

At DLR I tend to snap into the mindset that I am not going to have the best choices for food. It's always seemed as though food quality wasn't much of a priority at DLR, though it's improved considerably since the 90's.

Disneyland Park
Blue Bayou: Great steak
BTR BBQ: Good, but not great BBQ. Will do in a pinch.
Corn Dog Wagon: Enough said
River Belle Terrace: Good turkey sandwiches

DCA Park
Taste Pilot's Grill: Bleu cheese burger is the best burger in all of DLR
Corn Dog Castle: same great corn dogs as in DL.

Grand Californian
Napa Rose: Great steak
Whitewater Snacks: Nachos

I am not a meat and potatoes guy, even though I will eat that stuff if offered.

Blue Bayou: Steak
SH55: Steak
Plaza Inn: Chicken, Pot Roast
Napa Rose: Steak
Club 33: Steak
BT BBQ: All of it, with dinner you get sausage

Mortons and Ruth Chris are right down the street..very excellent meat joints.

River Belle Terrace - Pulled BBQ pork sandwiches are really good.

Bengal BBQ - Right behind the River Belle Terrace by Indy/Jungle Cruise has some tasty Chicken and steak skewers.

The new Jolly Holiday Bakery has some OK stuff too.

The CGH has a couple of decent places to eat as well ... Story Tellers and White Water Snacks.

My favorite food would be Bengal BBQ then Blue Bayou. I am an avid BBQ person, and I don't think Big Thunder Ranch is great BBQ. Your much better off getting takeout from Lucielle's which is close to Disneyland.

You guys (and gals) are awesome! Thank you so much. I have written down all of your suggestions to take with me.

carnation cafe is always our favorite--but it doesn't re open until this summer, so I don't know if that helps you. Great baked potato soup, chicken pot pies, shepards pie.

I am the same...like simple food...and meat and potatoes kinda food. Hate all the fried food. For full meal, Blue Bayou and Aeriel's Grotto WOC dinner package have great dead cow...next on my list is Big Thunder Ranch BBQ...also love French Market, they have a great roast beef with mashed potatoes...and my favorite grab a quick bite to hold me over is Bengal BBQ

You're right, Jack. You barely even mentioned potatoes. :rotfl2:
