Hi all,

I need advice fast :confused3 or I'm liable to start crying:sad: .

I booked our holiday last October with TCD to Florida, on a low deposit for me and my sister. She's just text me to say she can't pay the rest of the deposit
(130 quid) on Wednesday as she got a major bill to pay, and can i think of something to do.

I'm sure you will all forgive me but I absolutely fuming , this is the second time she done this to me, and i'm still recovering from last time financially. I would'nt mine so much, but she call me on Saturday to say she had the money and would be dropping it off today.

My question is what next? I'm definitely not paying her deposit. Does any one know how i stand with TCD if i pay my deposit and do the trip on my own.
I've call a few family and friends tonight to see if anyone would take her place, but had no luck. No seems to share my passion for Disney.

I really need advice fast before I call TCD in the morning. If anyone has been in this situation before and can advise me, I would be most grateful. (this is my first time travelling with TCD).

Thanking you in advance:thumbsup2 . Maureen 4200040

well if she is finding it hard to pay the depoist now how is she going to find the balance ( better finding this out now sooner then later )
If I was you I would phone TCD in the morning and see what they say
I see you have done a solo trip before , so maybe that is the way to go this time too
Good luck

when was it booked? even though you pay a low deposit the remainder of the full deposit is due,if you cancel. who are TCD? is it travel city? how long ago did you book it? and do you have insurance? i Im only asking as I am a travel agent. As i say she'll have to pay the remainer of deposit normally, and you can usually changed the holiday with admin fees. good luck, thats a wee shame.

Hi lesleyluvsdisney,

I am talking about travel city direct. This holiday was booked on 29/10/2006, on a low deposit of 10 quid, and balance of 130.00 each on 31/01/07, so she's had plenty of time to get her money together. I do have my own insurance.

My worry is that if I pay my deposit tomorrow, when i tell them she not going and i don't have someone to replace her seat, will they use my money as the cancellation deposit and then i will still have to find another 130.00 to pay. I'm only worrying now as I'm the lead name on the booking.

HI Maureen

:scratchin Yeah I see what you mean.. travel city are only looking for £260 deposit by wednesday iresrepective as to who pays it! No they want the £260 so even if your sister cancels they will still want her £130!!you will have to phone and explain the situ. say you dont want to canx but your sister cant go (ill or sometthing - sorry)

anyway PM me and i'll try and help! ::yes::

Just thought I would update you all.

I called Travel City Direct yestheday & explained the situation regarding my sister. The advisor basically said that as I was the lead passenger it was my responsilibity to pay the full deposit of 258.00. I came off the phone feeling depressed:sad1: . Decided I was'nt going to call my sister, i would just see what happens.

Around 4pm I phoned my other half to tell him what was happening, he's exact words were, that's it you can't go then, (:rolleyes1 he does'nt do disney says its for 5 yr olds). It's funny how certain things people say, make you see more clearly. My reply was thank you my sugar plum, I can always count on you to give the best advice:lmao: .

I put the phone down rang Travel City Direct and paid the full deposit myself.
I don't care whose coming on this trip or not, but I know I'm GOING:ya

Thanks for the advice

What a nightmare! Well at least its paid now, if you cant find anyone to go then just plan the most fabulous trip for yourself!

I hope you have a really great holiday now that you've got it all sorted. :wizard:

I can't believe you can't find someone to go with you!

I know someone who hada to change her holiday TWICE - she was first going last Easter, changed it to this Easter, started a new job and they told her this week she is not permitted to be away at Easter so she's changed it to May. I know what I would have done (and it wouldn't have been change my holiday :rolleyes1 ).

Sisters are a pain - I have one myself (so you and me excluded of course;) ) Go on your own, wear Mickey ears day and night and have a brilliant time!

started a new job and they told her this week she is not permitted to be away at Easter so she's changed it to May.

I thought they couldn't do that. I was under the impression that all employers had to honour holidays that were already booked? :confused3

Even though you've paid a 'low' deposit the rest of the deposit is still due even if you cancel her part of the holiday. I'd pay her deposit for her, then tell her you've cancelled her part of the holiday, get someone else to go with you who WILL pay you the deposit then pay for a name change (probably about £40)

Not true - its your responsibility to ensure your holiday fits with your working terms. They don't even have to compensate you for any monetary loss, its your problem if you've taken the job.

Well you learn something new everyday.

Maureen just read your tread and it reminded me of the old saying something about you can pick your friends but not your family. Well something like that.;)
hope it all works out in the end and you forget about all the hassle once you get there. :goofy: :donald: :goofy: :mickeyjum :goofy:
