I need advice about bringing drinks!

I need someone to help me figure this out because I am not someone who flies very often. I need to try and bring 12 flavored waters with me to Disney. They are 1 liter size and they are carbonated. (from Wal-Mart) I don't know what to try and pack in something that is checked and what to bring as a carryon. I think I can't check them because it is pressurized?? What about regular bottled waters? Can those be in my checked luggage? (I also need to bring some of those) And I can't get them down there, I need to bring them with me. I was planning to spread them out so that nothing is too heavy. Any advice?

I would be very careful.... if they explode under pressure, they may not just damage your suitcase/carryon, but those belonging to others.

I don't know if there is a 'rule', but I can tell you that we used to store our carbonated water on the back patio when I lived in Germany, and a few times I year I would awake to broken glass as the bottles had burst due to changes in pressure.

Is there any reason why you can't order what you need from netgrocer.com or other sites? I have done this in past; shipping costs are low, and the box will be waiting for you at check in. This way you can avoid all of the hassle of transporting water.

Just want to point out that the threat to carbonated beverages has little/nothing to do with the air pressure in the baggage compartment. The problem is that your luggage will get tossed, turned, thrown, vibrated and knocked about. And we know what that does

Or you could just ship a box with what you need to the resort, ahead of your arrival time. Otherwise, I would use a shopping/delivery service.

Ay-yi-yi - the weight! 12 litre-size bottles of water is going to be 26 1/2 lbs. (1 litre = 2.2 lbs.) That's more than half an allowed bag right there. Because their size makes them fairly delicate you would probably need to pack them in something like a hardside cooler, which will almost surely weigh nearly 20 lbs. empty, and you would need to add absorbent stuffing, like towels, which again will add to the weight. You will end up using at least half your baggage allowance on water.

Remember that issues of leakage aside, any bag that goes overweight will cost you between $25-50 depending on the airline.

Presuming you are taking ME and staying onsite, I'd think about either ordering from wegoshop or renting an economy car for a day to do a grocery run.

Someone posted their shopping list from wegoshop and the prices were quite reasonable I thought. (I think that was the co anyway.) That sounds like a much better idea. Is there a reason you can't just buy regular bottled water in the resort or the parks? I know it is pricey, but it sounds better than the potential headache.
