Well since the dining pkgs.are not happening (yet) we now have to come up with a WOC strategy. We are going June 13-18. On the 13th we have Fantasmic Dessert booked so that day is out. Our only 2 days to see WOC is the 14th and 15th which are unblocked days:scared1: We will use our GAD vouchers those 2 days to help with crowds but we dont expect to accomplish a whole lot. Our 2 best park days will be the 16 (which is a MM) and 17th. The 16th and 17th are grad nights so no WOC and the 18th we go home.
We will be sleeping in on the 14th and I am thinking to hit the back gate at GCH and grab WOC passes when it opens. I am trying to do that for both days. For the 15th we want to do MM and then hit the back gate when DCA opens for another crack at a WOC pass. Any other/better ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.:goodvibes

Join the club! :rotfl2: We will be in the parks 6/13-6/18.

I completely understand the desire to figure out how to fit everything in when on a Disney vacation. Everyone likes to plan to various degrees. The challenge in answering your question is that you are operating around too many assumptions that have not been confirmed by Disney, specifically how viewing will work for WoC.

You have a month. I would strongly suggest waiting until Disney announces just how exactly everything is going to work for WoC and then pan accordingly (since you are not really holding up anything else in terms of plans). Any other plan you set will be based on too many rumors and not fact, imo.

I'm also going to be there the same time. I don't really care if we see WOC, I'm just completely worried about the crowds. I thought that I had a plan and then found out about the opening date.

I wish it weren't opening until the following week....

Good point.:thumbsup2 Maybe it is the planner in me to have a strategy in place and I will adjust it accordingly as info trickles in. Since I have such a limted time frame in which to see it I do have to plan around our other activities somewhat. We are not worried about the crowds. It is what it is (we have been in MK at WDW when at capacity:scared1:) and you have to plan for it. There are quite a few new things to see, since our last trip to DL was in 2007 and come heck or high water we will see WOC!!:yay:

LOL don't I know it your great park plan has really helped!!:goodvibes

:lmao: It's making me crazy too!

A month in Disney days is really like a week to us uber planners- it might as well be tomorrow.

I wish it weren't opening until the following week....

It will be OK! We were at DLR in June '07. Our arrival day was the day the Nemo Subs reopened. (We had no idea this was going to happen until the day before.) The line for Nemo was 4 hours long all week. But the rest of the parks weren't THAT bad. We escaped to DCA to get away from the crowds. I recognize there is no escape to DCA since that's where WOC will be, but I am guessing that (as with fireworks and parades) a huge number of people will be staking out their spots and occupied for a few hours around each show - a great time for you to take advantage of the shorter lines.

If you go early morning and late night and avoid WOC like the plague (other than the one time you see it, if you dare!), it might not be so bad.

Good luck! :)

We HAVE a plan for WOC.... we rescheduled to avoid it!

We were at DL the 2 days right before you in 07. In fact, it was the last time we were there. We purposely avoided that too! I guess we'll finally get to do Nemo this trip..... and maybe in a few years we can do WOC! :lmao: It was really cool though. They had a promotional Nemo sub (it reminded me of the Oscar Meyer weinermobile) that travelled around the area prior to opening the attraction. We passed it going the opposite direction through the desert on our way into town. If I hadn't been in such a hurry to get to Disney, I would have turned around and hunted it down for some photos.... very surreal out in the middle of nowhere!

I am wondering about the WOC also. I know I was told Ariels would shut down for dinner, and only be a Princess lunch which is gonna effect the bookings there also. I'm already assuming it's gonna be twice as mad if not more than Fantasmic. I am worried about trying to see it at opening, and then it's start of summer so you have to apply those crowds which in July OMG horrendous crowds, and the socal locals will want to see it, so that adds on, along with AP holders, so I think it's gonna be just try to get there early as possible, and try.

Are you staying on-site? If so, your plan sounds plausible as far as we know now. Tomorrow that might change. :rotfl:

My only two days to see it (barring a soft opening on 6/9 or a magic ticket to the media event :rotfl:) will be 6/11 and 6/12. I will try to Twitter updates and also post here when I get home.

If there are soft openings prior to my visit, we may all have some good ideas of what to do. If there aren't, then guinea pig at your service. :rotfl:

I don't have a plan yet, though--just several vague ideas. As the date draws closer I'm going to formulate several strategies and then likely pick one when we go. The strategies would include trying to get a FP on Friday, trying to get a FP on Saturday, trying to go standby Friday or Saturday, and packing a poncho in case we get in the supposed "splash zone" on the boardwalk.

My hope is that they will not restrict people from watching all around the lagoon. I know that's not the "right" way to see the show, but I imagine if they don't, crowds may be a problem. And if they do allow viewing from the wrong place, then that would be far down on my list of backup strategies. :)

We can do it! I just don't know how yet.

I will also be there the days you are going. The last time we went was in June of 2007 as well. I have no plan when it comes to WOC. If it looks crazy we are going to avoid it. As long as my kids see the fireworks and Fantasmic they will be happy. Also why doesn't Disneyland have the WOC scheduled on their web site? How are we supposed to know the times. I am sure I am missing a link on this board about that but can someone explain to the newbie?
I do hope my lunch reservations for Ariel's Grotto are not changed. We have a booking for 12:50 p.m. on Tuesday so I should be good. *fingers crossed*

As someone who plans out our Disney Vacations (mostly to Disney World) at about the same level and the invasion of Normandy.... this is driving me nuts too. :confused3. We are there about the same time (14th to the 19th) so our only real shots at WOC are the 15th and the 18th) and appear to be in the same boat and its got alot of holes. There are just too many unknowns at this time to try to plan it. The show times are not confirmed, the showpass idea is not confirmed, nor are the dining packages. I keep thinking that with less than a month to go they would be anouncing SOMETHING but they still seem to be working it out.
