I need a WDW comparison

Can anyone give this seasoned “World”er but first timer to DL a comparison of how far Downtown Disney is to either of the parks or the parks to each other in terms of WDW spacing? For example, such and such is about the distance of the Be Our Guest Restaurant to Space Mountain. Or such and such would be like walking from the American Pavilion to Spaceship Earth. That kind of thing. I know everyone says how close the parks are to one another and to Downtown Disney but it’s hard for me to get a grasp on what “close” really is.

The parks are right across from each other. In the esplanade you basically either turn right or left to go into one of the parks. The esplanade is smaller than the size of a football field. If there are no lines you can be out of one park and into the other in about 2-3 minutes tops. Downtown Disney is just past the esplanade, again maybe a 2-3 minutes walk till you are at the start. Waking from one end of DTD to the other takes about 10 minutes.

Yes, it's so great there! I would say the two parks are like World Showcase and Future World, literally that close!! And then Downtown Disney is right in the middle to the left!

As a die hard for decades World-er, the lines and cast members there have done me in. The patrons are hot and tired and crabby. We do not do lines and rarely make a trip reservation more than 1 month out so the new pack em deep in the park at WDW year round now has robbed us of any magic found there. We have switched to DL 3xs a yr now and WDW maybe every other year instead. We only go for 3 days tho. I love being able to go from one park to the other and ride rides all day in both parks at DL. 3 min hop across the promenade and you are in another park! The walk all the way around either park would probably be less than 45 minutes walk, not stopping. If you are a DD person, be forewarned it doesn't compare to Florida's. It is a strip and would take less than 20. Lol! It is sparse but we only do restaurants at DD either park. You won't even break a sweat running for a ride here, either. Lol

Imagine you're standing in front of the boat dock at MK, resort launch dock not the ferry dock. Now imagine that's the turnstiles at DCA. The distance from the boat dock to the MK turnstiles is about the same distance as across the Esplanade from DCA to DL, turnstile to turnstile.

Now imagine you're standing midway between the dock and the turnstiles facing MK. In DLR, DTD is literally right there to your left just a mini-stroll away.

Take a look on Google Earth you can see clearly how close they all are to each other.

Very, very close. 10000% walking distance. All in the same “bubble.”

example: think the distance between WDW haunted mansion and Splash Mountain

I almost feel the distance between the 2 parks is even closer than future world to world showcase. I remember when standing in a long line to get into dland at opening for Galaxy’s edge, it stretched across the Esplanade almost to the entrance of DCA. Also the mickeynfriends/Pixar parking tram station is right at the tail end of downtown Disney. Man, spending the past year more at wdw to get my Disney fix when DLR was closed is making me appreciate dland more. Can’t wait to have my AP, I mean magic key in a few weeks!

It's MUCH closer than 'showcase to showcase' or MK's splash to HM.

I got opened my handy dandy walking distance pedometer thingy and from turnstile to turnstile is .05 mi. Center of Esplanade to the 'flower fountain' at the start of DTD is .08 mi.

Splash to HM is about .2 miles (roughly) walking distance around the RoA. It's .15 in a direct line if you swim to TSI then swim to HM . Go ahead, I dare ya! lol

The 'center point' of Future World to the 'tip of the lagoon' at World Showcase is .15 in a straight line.

Yeah, I was meaning the small walkway from the very edge of World Showcase to the very edge of Future World. It's a very short bridge. I walk it weekly. My walking is showing 190 feet, which is .03.

Thanks to everyone for helping me visualize it better. I knew everyone said it was close, but it seemed hard to believe that it was REALLY that close! Glad to hear it is. With the menus being so limited at so many of the in-park restaurants, I opted to reserve DD restaurants instead. Good to know it really is all RIGHT there and we win’t be going crazy trying to get around.

I never take my car. I fly down from Sacramento, get a ride on a ride share/taxi to the (walking distance from the parks) hotel, and head straight into the parks. I don't need a car the entire time until I head back to the airport. On the rare occasion I want to visit something else, like the Anaheim Packing District, I get a ride from one of the sources I mentioned above.

Edited to add: I just meant to demonstrate that everything is so easily walkable, you only have to worry about transportation to/from the airport if you're flying.
