The timer on my dryer is out again, it will only dry for 15 minutes at a time.

SO I guess I will be shopping for a new one now.

Any recomendations on brands etc?

I need an X Large that is dependable.
Help? TIA

PS the good news is I dont need a new van ( at least for now) I fixed my brakes and the tranny is holding.

Unless your machine is really old, I put in a new timer. Not that expensive.

We just replaced our 27 yo w/d with Sears Kenmore w/d and they work well. Both large size and mid range price.

herc.

Ours is GE. I like the new, really big ones with the round window on both the washer & dryer, they're a little pricey but I love the look.

I got a GE Profile last year and love it. Drys everything super fast and has sensors for dampness, etc.

Maytag here, one for about 27 or so years, a new one for about 6 now, both are/were great.

I have a Maytag Atlantis. When I did my research, the single most technologically-advance item that was worth the $$ you pay for it is the sensor. My dryer beeps when the clothes are dry, then keeps tumbling them for I think 15 minutes after they're done. It also has a Dryel cycle, I think I've used that one time!

Kenmore He3T, or something like that. Sorry, I'm terrible with names, but it's the new front loader from Kenmore. It is wonderful, efficient and very quiet!

Maytag. Pretty basic dryer...none of the fancy stuff like the Atlantis line has, but I'm not a complicated woman;) .
I've had it for 13 years, and have had good luck so far...no problems at all that I can recall.

so does anyone know what a life span of a dryer should be?

This gets pretty hard use on an almost daily basis.

its 10 years old.

I've got the whirlpool duet and have been totally satisfied with it, it's about 2 years old. My kenmore only lasted about 9yrs, not sure what the average "life span" is for a dryer.
