I need white noise to sleep and have found that a fan works much better than the noise machines. I have had a Honeywell fan for a few years and it is dying. I wanted to by the same model, but now they make it "25% quieter" and it is too quiet for me! Anyone have a loud table top fan?

Marsha

I once had a fan, that sat on the table.

Then she left

We have a noise generator. Used to use a fan, but our white noise machine has adjustable volume, from "barely there" to "I can't hear myself think". Without it...there is no sleep. It also has other sounds (rainfall, thunderstorm, ocean waves, and creepily...heartbeat).

I'll go check the manufacturer for you. May work better than what you've tried.

My boss has a tabletop fan that I believe she bought at Wal-Mart or Target. Its called the Hurricane. Its very loud....sometimes if we want to gossip without closing her office door, we turn the fan on. You can't hear us talking over it. :rotfl: Its probably suspicious when we turn the "gossip" fan on during the winter.

Nah, not if at least one of you is "of a certain age" :rotfl2:

OP - try any fan in a cake pan or disposable aluminum pan

No that would be a rattling sound, and I can't handle that either. It has to just be loud white noise.

What a name for a fan - LOL.. Maybe it's actually supposed to sound like a hurricane! ;)

I believe my friend has this fan (except the floor model) and boy oh boy is that thing LOUD. Whenever I go over there, she has to turn it down for us to talk. I tell her it sounds like a jet. LOL

I have always used a fan for this but we bought an air purifier and it is so loud I don't need the fan anymore. Just a thought.

My air purifier is not loud at all, just a light whoosh. The fan I have works, but it takes a while to start. It will just make a humming noise for 5 minutes and then start on up. I just know it will die eventally.

I'll check and see if I can find one called Tornado. Last one I bought from Walmart, the switch broke on the second use.:headache:

Yeah I need a small portable fan that actually has some power to it. I have to have one to sleep and the last one I bought was disappointing. Open to any suggestions.

I don't remember what brand it is, but I've gotten $15 box fans from Walmart that work just fine for white noise. They have a lower hum and last for years. I just recently bought one for another room in our house.
