I need a hug

We're trying to go through pictures to find some of him for tomorrow, and I can't find many. We have literally thousands he *took*, thousands he loved, but just a bare handfull of him.

I don't even have many pictures of my dad.

Awhhh Tammi, lots of hugs I don't have many pictures of my dad, either. The ones I do have, my relatives gave to me. I have no idea what my mom did with our photo albums and it's not something I can really bring up. In fact, I don't really have anything that was my dad's, just a sleeping cap and some letters from when he was in the Air Force that he sent to his family. I know how it feels.

We were blessed that we had plenty of photos to choose from BUT a few of his friends and relatives brought along to the funeral some photos of my dad that we had never seen!
I hope people do that for you guys.....

Since you posted the news, all I have thought was how I wish I was close by you just to give you a real hug. You WILL get lots of them tomorrow.

We don't have any pictures of my FIL. When my ILs divorced, my MIL threw away all pictures of just him or of the two of them. She also laid on a good guilt trip so they wouldn't see their Dad in person. We had a few from when my DH was little with his Dad for our wedding video, but she took them back. At least we have the ones that we added to our video.

He died in November without having seen any of his children in almost 20 years. I hope you are taking comfort in the laughs you said you shared with your Dad on his final night with you.

Remember, too, that you can look at all of the pictures that he took and remember those times, as well. Sometimes remembering what was going on as your picture was being taken is better than the picture itself.

we went through that too when my dad died.

He was always the one taking the pictures not the one in the pictures.


One thing we did Tammi, was to call all the family and friends and ask them for copies of what they had. Since we had done a few things with them they all had pictures.



I know this is really early, but maybe this would work while people were there.
After my dad died I called everyone he knew and asked them each to write their favourite memories of him and if they have them, copy pictures for me too.
I got some great baby pictures form my great aunt and some amazing stories from everyone.

It is a scrapbook that I will always treasure.

Im sorry if its too soon to tell you that, I debated on whether or not to post it, I hope that maybe it might offer some help while you have people around you.
