Felling really sorry from myself just got back from the doctors and he has told me I have shingles it is so painfull I have it on my left side on my back , he has given me tablets which I have to take 2 tablets five times a day lets just hope it does not last to long as he said the pain can last for mths and I am of the Florida in 23 days , anyway thanks for listening and I hope everyone else is having a good day .

At least they caught it early and you can take tablets. I was diagnosed with shingles in Sept last year, it was also about 3 weeks before we were heading off to Florida!

Don't rub too much but get some calamine lotion just incase

I feel really sorry for you - my DH has it at the moment and this is his third week off work - he has it on his right shoulder and arm and the pain has been really bad but the good news is that he is feeling a bit better - hope you recover soon.

Oh dear, poor you my Mum has them too she's now into her 3rd week also. She's been in absolute agony with the pain, she has them all around the right side of her back and chest. At first the GP thought she had pulled a muscle until she returned 4 day's later with the blisters!! Listen to your body and get plenty of rest

Thank you all so much for your hugs , I am just of to bed to get some rest unfortuneatly I can not have any time of work as I do not get sick pay and can not afford to lose any wages so I will have to keep my fingers crossed and hope it does not get to bad .

Oh poor you .I really hope you are better soon and as Claire said it sounds like they have caught it in time to treat it with tablets.I know when i was little my Mum was hospitalised with it and she was in sheer agony with it-it was very upsetting.I wish you well,take care.x.

I hope you recover quickly. I had it last year but left it too late going to the doctors so they wouldn't give me any tablets as it was past preventing it. I have never been in so much pain in my life! I was completely laid up for two weeks and couldn't move my left side or lift my arm. It took a further 2 weeks before I was back to normal and even then I still had all the nasty blisters.

I don't want to scare you but if you do not rest then it will take longer to heal and it can return. It may be wise to take a couple of days off now and what with the weekend aswell the bed rest and tablets will get rid of it before it gets worse.

I agree with this,i know you said you don't get sick pay-but if it gets too bad then you could end up with multiple days off instead of just the next 2 coming up.x.

I have taken your advice and have phoned work and told them I will not be back until monday , fingers crossed the tablets would have an effect and I will start to feel better .
