a couple days ago i found out that one of my best friends is leaving the country, for good. she's been here since like fourth grade. she's from japan, and her dad finished his job here, so they're going back.

she's going to come visit, but nothing will beat sitting next to her in French every day or her reading me books in Japanese.

it really sucks.

just wanted to vent.

thanks.

she's so awesome. the first day i met her in sixth grade, she tore a piece of notebook paper in half and showed me how to write my name in japanese. i still have that piece of paper in my room.

I've had 3 friends move to different countries in the past 5 years. We only get contact from one of them :( He invited us to come visit him in Scotland over last summer, but my parents didn't want to go...

the EXACT same thing happend to me last year.
my friend was from spain and her mother finished her work here so she
moved back to spain. Luckily i can still talk to her on myspace and aim/msn and stuff like that. hugs to you, sparx!

I know exactly what you're going through, right now, all my friends are in different countries.
But what's worse than having a friend leave, is being the one to leave a friend, because as much as you want to go to whatever the place you're going to, you still want to stay and be with that person.

thanks guys.
and i'm sorry to all of you who have lost friends to other countries before.

I'm sorry Shelby. I have no idea what that must feel like, it must hurt so much.
Is there any way you'd still be able to keep in touch?
It might be hard with the time difference, but I keep in touch with my cousins thru MSN messenge. Maybe they have that in Japan?

That happened to me in 6th grade. My friend was Japanese and he left.

its like a 14 hour time difference, but yes, they have it there. we'll mostly talk through email i suppose. i don't know how expensive international calling is, let alone how to go about it.

That's me hugging you.

I've lost friends to other states, but not other countries. Unless we count summer camp counselors, but I only knew them for 2 weeks.

 Wow, that sucks. I don't even know what to say, that's not a good situation.
But as much as this hurts for you, it's probably even harder for her. You might wanna think about throwing her a surprise going away party or something.
