Why can't DL have a value resort?!? I've been staring at hotel/motel choices for over a week without a resolution!

I am going to DL with a friend and we are both on a very tight budget.

I'm basically looking for something that is Clean, Close (needs to be within walking distance), Comfortable ( I cannot stand rock hard beds) and Cheap (ie CCCC!)

I like the thought of the HoJo but they don't have the Ent rate for my days in October.

I am considering an AP (I can get one at a discount from my work). Does anyone know what the AP rates are for the DL resorts in October? The current dates we are looking at are Oct 12, 13-16, 17 (they keep changing)

Resorts I've been looking at are the Plaza, Quality Inn, Ramada (a little more expensive than I would like). Looking for around $80 or less/night

Are there any discounts or promos for places like the Candy Cane Inn or Park Vue?

Thanks! I appreciate any and all insight!

If I remember correctly, the Park Vue is a Best Western, so it may be an idea to go check out the Best Western website and see if they have any types of discounts. If you have AAA, you might score a discount that way. If you need a push toward the HoJo, I stayed there and absolutely loved everything about and it totally fits into your 4C's criteria.

Park Vue Inn is right next to Best Westerns Park Place Inn..... its kinda confusing- but they are 2 different motels.

Hi!

We have friends that stay at the Motel 6. And they like their hotels CHEAP ;), but clean and safe. They really liked it. You might check that out!

If you book at the BW Park Place Inn. Call them and ask for the Facebook discount. I believe it is an 20% discount, same as AAA.

Is the Motel 6 within walking distance? I don't want to pay any extra for transportation.

The BW Park Place Inn did not show any opening for our dates.

AP Rates:

PP - not available at AP rate for 10/14, available all other days for $225.

DLH - not available at AP rate for most of your days.

GC - not available 10/12, available all other days for $342

If you're considering an AP, you can get a 20% discount at HoJo. Of course, you can get 15% at HoJo just by mentioning DISboards.

If I were you, I'd take a look at getawaytoday.com

Thanks for checking the rates... Definitely out of my price range!

I would do priceline, I got rooms for as cheap as $34/night but I did have to take the ART, but for that price it was worth it. and the rooms were nice.

Good Luck

Candy Cane Inn has a AAA discount. It's a little more than you want to spend per night, but it would be my choice.

Very clean, close--walking distance, but also has a free shuttle if you don't want to walk, comfortable (I'm picky about beds, theirs were really comfortable).

Motel 6 is walkable. Not the shortest walk, but still walkable. A year or so ago I went with my brother, his wife, and my 5 year old, and we had to park at Gardenwalk. The walk was just fine, and Motel 6 is just a block or so more than that.

You're going around Columbus Day time, which was an insanely busy time last year (we entered DCA *first*, we had APs, and they stamped our hands (almost unheard of for AP holders) on our way INTO (almost unheard of, usually it's on your way out) the park, that's how busy it was), which means you're not going to find many discounts. Since you're going *after* the holiday, it'll be better, but the hotels might still be hoping for premium-price-paying stragglers that came for the holiday. :)

Barely ~ DD and I spent 2 nights at the M6 last month ~ if I were visiting DLR when the hours are 10am-8pm *we don't take a mid day break then* it'd be fine but when the hours are 8am-midnight and a mid day break is needed the walk can be a bit much especially for a multi day visit. The Anaheim Plaza is a fine place when the price is right ~ we paid $54 per night last Sept.

Have you tried using ares travel?

i only stayed at one place and it was for one night i did the hojo, i got my ap rate paid like $80 for the one night. witch is not bad for one night...i loved the beds, they were super duper soft and clean!

Does Columbus day really draw crowds? I didn't think schools actually got out for it!

When I first started planning our trip I was hoping for the end of September beginning of October but my husband is gone hunting so I can't go then.

I was really hoping the middle if October would be slower...

My kids don't ~ but federal employees *like me* do.

It was sick and wrong last year. The CA schools do get out for it, we always got out (I grew up in San Jose). Lovely, as the true Col Day is my birthday (and last year the holiday was celebrated on the actual day, yay, which is why we were there, for my free day during the '09 promo).

As you move forward from the holiday Monday the crowds will likely thin out (same as Mem Day weekend...the week leading up to it gets busier and busier, but then it fades on and after the Monday...we know that b/c DS's b'day is right around then and we spent two years avoiding throwing parties by going to DLR!), but that weekend last year, and the Monday, were very crowded.

I hate to hijack this thread but we are going to be at DL October 10-15 and I am so worried about the crowds. We always go in November/December when the park is relatively quiet so I'm not sure what to expect. Can anyone fill me in?

Try the Tropicana. It super close the entrance....practically across the street. Looks like they just remodeled all of their rooms. If you go to the community board and look at the Hotel thread, someone has posted pics of the new rooms. The first you see are not the new remodeled ones, so make you look until you see the new ones.

Also look into Park Place. If you have AAA, be sure to ask for their discount. Park Place is right at the entrance, and it's nice.

That's the timeframe I've been talking about, from last year. Busy. Packed. I believe there was a park closure due to crowds on one of the days (what the CMs told us as they were stamping our AP-holding hands as we entered DCA).

But still fun! Have a great time!

We just booked the Super 8 on Katella for $42 a night. From what I've heard, it's recently been remodeled and very good hotel for the price. Clean and cheap are the main things.
