My beloved Bunn has decided to leave this world :sad1:, so I must look for a new coffee pot. Coffee is very important to my well being :surfweb:, so this is an important item, however, I cannot afford to get another Bunn at this time :sad2:. Can anyone recommend a nice coffee pot that is more reasonable in price???

Go check the local thrift shop, that is an item you see donated on a regular basis.

My dh just said "Mr. Coffee". :thumbsup2 Just your basic coffee maker nothing fancy.

Ours if from Gevalia. we got it for $10 with 2 boxes of coffee and free shipping. I tried their coffees for a month or two but really wasn't impressed so I cancelled the service.
Their current offer is $14.95 for the coffee maker and 2 boxes of coffee and no obligation, oh and free shipping.

I agree with the French Press option, but I cold brew in my FP most of the time. (Toddy is a commercial cold brew system, but a press works just as well.)

Cold brewing makes the coffee smoother and less acidic, but brings out all the good flavor. You put coffee grounds in cold water, let sit, strain and end up with a coffee concentrate that is really great. I'm not a huge fan of it mixed with hot water, but I love it mixed with hot or cold milk. A batch will last in the fridge for a week.

For a coffee machine, my husband swears by our Black and Decker. It makes GREAT hot coffee and keeps it at a perfect temperature. I feel like the Mr. Coffee and others in the price range end up with a more cooked/burnt taste than the B&D.

I have the Gevalia too....love it! It has all the features of a $$$ coffee maker but is a value at $15, and I think they threw in a couple of nice coffee scoops too. Love the programmable feature. I too have cancelled my coffee delivery, but love this maker. I have a Stainless and black one, and while I am mightily tempted to get a Keurig, I am staying w/the Gevalia until it needs to be replaced.

We are Bunn fans too. Ours died and we decided to go cheaper. We bought a Krups for $100 and we are donating it today. The carafe doesn't keep our coffee even warm. I am heading out to buy my Bunn and wish I had never cheaped out! So, I didn't end up saving any $, I spent more!

Ours is very inexpensive and we LOVE it. We have the Hamilton Beach Brew Station . Our favorite part is that it does not have a carafe. It keeps the coffee very hot and has an automatic shut off after 2 hrs. We have had it for over 2ys and it still works well. We brew coffee about 3-4 times a day so it is well used.

I hate my cuisinart if that helps you. I'm stuck with it because it works and I paid enough for it that I won't get rid of it.

I wanted the brewstation and wish I got it. I used to have an old proter silex and loved it and it held up the best. I'm sure it would still be working if dh didn't accidentally break the spring in the basket. I don't even know if they still make those.

"Mr. Coffee" coffee pots are a big no-no in our family.. The coffee always tastes terrible - has a burnt taste to it..

DD's DH prefers Black & Decker coffee pots - and I could NOT survive without my B&D one-cup coffeemaker.. I can't stand the taste of coffee that's been sitting for 10 minutes or more - tastes terrible to me..

In the past, when my DH was still alive, we would just buy whatever was on sale (with the exception of Mr. Coffee) and people would often ask us what we did that made our coffee taste so good.. Answer? "No Mr. Coffee coffeemakers.." LOL..

DH was thinking inexpensive to buy so he said Mr. Coffee. He uses a Gevalia and has for FOREVER. :rotfl2:
