I need a bathroom mat

I'm looking for recommendations on a new bathroom mat. The one that you step on when you first get out of the shower.

I usually dry off a bit before I step on it....however, DBF just hops out of the shower immedately, and the poor thing we have now has just been beaten to death by the water.

Does anyone have a nice, semi-affordable, absorbant, dries quickly bathroom rug?

I usually just use the target special and wash it once a week maybe every other week. I replace them but it takes a while for them to look beat up. Im usually a jump out right away drier as well...lol

Don't know how quickly it dries, but I order all my bathroom towels, mats and shower curtains from the JCPenney catalog simply because of the huge choice in colors and sizes. Especially like the long runners! That, and being able to color co-ordinate everything. I've never been disappointed with their bathroom products and they usually have good sales.

They had some super soft, spongy ones at Bed, Bath and Beyond that claimed to dry fast. I don't know how much they are though.

I just saw an interesting looking one on an end cap at Bed, Bath and Beyond. It was a microfiber, says it is ultra-absorbent, and did feel really plush. It has memory foam....but as DS pointed out, why in the world would you need memory foam in a bathmat?? :rotfl: I was tempted but the color selection was really just beiges.

don't you put a bath mat down on top of the rug before you shower and step out onto that? We never step directly onto the rug from the shower. You put the mat which is just a small heavy towel material down step onto that and then pick it up when you are done. I couldn't imagine dripping on the throw rug, then it is wet when you go into to use the bathroom and stays wet. yuck.

We do the same. I found one at Target a couple of years ago - it is similar to the mats they have in hotels. Our fluffier mat is in front of the sink, and doesn't get wet unless the kids don't put down the other one. I hang it on the shower bar when we are done so it can dry. I wash it about once a week.

I never knew there were bath mats, learn something new everyday! I will look into getting one though, because I can't stand to step on a wet rug

Why do you put a rug under the bathmat? Or do you have carpet in the bathroom? I have a bathroom rug in front of the sink. I have a bathmat (usually hung on the tub) that is used for getting out of the shower.
I don't put a bathroom rug by the shower.

Bed Bath and Beyond has a microfiber covered memory foam one. Around $20 and awesome!

a lot of bathrooms are small enough or the tub is directly across from the sink that the throw rug is also in front of the tub.

I hate stepping on a wet rug with my socks on (i like wearing socks in the house, and the tub is next to the toilet). Drives me up a wall.

I usually dry off before stepping out of the tub, so the rug doesn't get too wet. But it sounds like you could use a bath mat (towel like). Now you'll just have to train your boyfriend to throw it on the floor before getting in the shower. Draping it over the side of the tub really helps to remember.
