I moderate hotels worth the extra money?

So all the moderates have queen sized beds? We were thinking of staying at POFQ on our next visit. But wouldn't having queen sized beds in the rooms make them have less space to move around? Is it noticeable?

All of them have queens beds except CBR and there is a rumor going around that CBR will be getting them also. I havent noticed any difference in the space. I really didnt pay that much attention to it so I guess it doest take up that much extra space or I would of noticed lol.

The beds are only six inches wider, so you won't even notice the difference.

we stayed at CSR once -- it was way to big and we were way to far away from anything. Never even saw the pool during a 7 day period.

Food court was crowded and confusing and the room looked the same as any value i was in.

So we moved back to Values.

You must have stayed at CSR quite a while ago. The rooms are gorgeous now, and look very upscale. It is a shame you didn't go to the pool as it is one of the nicest on Disney property.

I would say about 7 years ago -- has it really changed that much in that short of a time?

for what its worth, here's my opinion. I have stayed at all manner of resworts except the villas. So far my list includes so far: POP, CBR, POFQ, WL, AKL, and for my next stay we are doing POR royal rooms.

I have loved every one for different reasons, but we ruled the values out for now. First, we love the theming and pools in the mods better and the queen beds are a must. (Leaves CBR out as well). I also enjoy the lounges and sit down rest in the mods. I like the deluxes and we want to stay at the POly one day but we are waiting for a refurb.

It comes down to price for us. if we can get a good deal and its a good year, deluxe it is. This year, with college tuition starting, mod it is. Value - not this year. BUT, I will say, for a shorter trip, or if you can swing two rooms to split teens from mom and dad, it could be worth it.

For us, it's totally worth it. I go with my adult daughter(s) and we appreciate the more quiet surroundings, beautiful landscaping, larger rooms, and bathroom has double sinks, and nicer ammenities and furnishings , also the extras at POR, with a pretty pool with slide, boat to DTD, marina, and evening entertainment.

We too have ruled out values going forward. We have found that the value resorts just seem to be louder. Especially because if there is an event going on or school groups, they seem to stay at the value resorts. I can't tell you how many times I was woken up by screaming teens running by the rooms or my kids were shoved by groups of teens waiting in line at the food court.

For us we have just decided that it is worth the extra money to stay at a moderate or deluxe.

I agree with disnutz, which I tried to quote but the app shut down!

For us they are worth it. Nicer rooms and nicer bathroom areaa. But for us, the big draw for the mods is the theming. All of them are very well themed. We love the lush grounds and the nicer pools and hottubs are hard to do without.

We have stayed at all the values and all the mods, several more than once. The values have always been fine and sometimes great. But our kids are no longer enthralled with the icons.

I will add I have never regretted paying extra for a mod. I have however regretted not paying extra a few times when we stayed value. Not a "omg, we should have stayed home" type of regret, just missing the amenities and feel of a mod.

We have stayed at each level of resort and prefer the mods. I find them to be the best value for our family.

I think so, with the exception of CBR (for right now.) Once they get queen beds, count us in! However, I would only stay there during Free Dining. Otherwise, we like to use room discounts for deluxes!

I only stay Value if for whatever reason I need to budget that part of the trip, for example last time we stayed 1 week at AKL so balanced out the cost by doing the first week at Pop. We don't mind the value's but a Mod would be preferable any day.

We Have only stayed value once and DH hated it because there was no ceiling fan! Also we had a problem with a school group being loud outside our room. We LOVE CSR. tried POFQ and liked it but food court wasn't as good and didn't like CBR at all.

As an AP holder I go to WDW 4-6 times a year and several of those trips are solo trips. Even for my solo trips, I have pretty much settled on the moderates as my resorts of choice. I have stayed at three of the Values, al four moderates, and four of the Deluxes. I'm just more comfortable at the moderates and feel they give me the best value for my money. I love the covered bus stops with benches, bigger rooms, queen size beds, ceiling fans, better landscaping, hot tubs, pool slides, TS restaurants that are easy to get into if I'm not in a mood to go out (except POFQ), and how the bus stops seem to be closer coming out of the parks at night. I'd rank them:

#1. POFQ-smallest resort on property so no room is very far from anything, love the boat to DTD, love Elliot Dyson's show in the lounge, and just love general vibe of the resort.

#2. CSR (really a tie with POFQ)-most comfortable beds, consistently had the best bus service on property, biggest hot tub, longer pool slide, by far the best kids playground if you have kids, love the wooden door that separates the vanity area from the bedroom area, like that you can get your mugs refilled at the pool bar, Cafe Rix, or Pepper Market, love that you can get food right there at the pool, love the Pepper Market. If you are on the DDP the Pepper Market is a great deal, but can be a little expensive if you are not. Breakfast and lunch are both CS buffets (yes CS buffets, not TS buffets). The only thing that I don't care for is the Rancho section, so I'm always afraid I'm going to get stuck out there, but that's just a personal preference. In ten trips to CSR, I've only been stuck out there once, but was able to get moved to my beloved Cabanas section the next morning.

#3. PORS-don't like how big this resort feels, but have no problem paying for a preferred room which guarantees me one of the AB buildings I'd want anyway. Love how peaceful and relaxing this resort feels, the boat to DTD, and Ye Haw Bob's show in the lounge. PORS has probably the best food court on property, next to the Pepper Market at CSR.

#4. CBR-my least favortie moderate, but still alot better than a value. Rooms are a little bigger than the other moderates, but they are the only mod that still has full size beds, very pretty tropical feel to the resort, but not a fan of their food court and bus service has always stank every time we've stayed there, plus the main pool and hot tub always seemed to be packed (alot more than the other moderates).

This all depends on you, your travel group, the duration of your stay, and the activities you plan on doing each day. If you only plan on using the room to sleep and put your things, stick with value.

You can't control the crowds or the weather. You can make sure you are as comfortable as possible. If you take it day-by-day, spend the extra money and upgrade. I say if you are going to spend the extra money, DO IT! Go deluxe. We loved CSR and POR! But we REALLY loved AKL!!! We spent hours and hours chilling on our balcony, listening to lectures on the animals, exploring that crazy resort, sitting by the fire listening to stories, having cocktails by the pool, eating... you get it. I found the moderates to be the largest resort (not by sq ft. but because they all have lakes and meandering paths. There is no straight line so you have to walk around everything.
