I met someone I havent seen in over 20 years

I was in a restraunt with the family in another state and a lady came up to me and practically stared me in the face and said hello, I looked at dh like, who is this, introduce me etc. I was so embarresed as it was one of my moms friends. Her dh was with her too. Dh and I didnt even know it was him, many pounds and gray hairs later. I told her I am sorry, I dont remember or know you at first. She told me it was her etc. Wow, she changed, much heavier, new hairstyle, glasses etc. I guess dh and I havent changed that much since she knew us after 20 years. She told us about her family and she told us she is moving to texas in about 6 months. We told her we will be there in less than 7 years but since we go there every year we will look her up when we go next time. Have you ever seen anyone years later who you didnt recognize or remember?

Well apparently I have been the one to change I ran into 2 people last weke that didnt recognize me.

One was previous neighbour, he's 84 so I just wrote that off to age that he couldnt remember me. When he finally did figure it out he said "Wow look at you! Youre really moving up in the world!" but then I ran into a friend who is just a wee bit older than I am and she didnt recognize me at all! She said " Wow! You look really nice!"

Oh yeah. And it really ticked me off. My mom retired from teaching in June and we went to her retirement party at school. During the party all the retirees and their families were introduced. After the party, I was walking out and this girl (my age) walks by and says "Hi Beth!"---like we're buddies. I had no idea who she was. And I just sort of stammered out some words like "I'm sorry but....." and she said "It's Christine." So, I'm thinking, Uh Christine who. Then she says, "Christine Jones". Then it took me a second and I finally remembered that we played volleyball together when we were freshmen in HS--like 14 years ago. We weren't even friends. Then I vaguely remembered my mom saying something to me several years ago about her working with someone I played volleyball with.

Now would you seriously just walk up to someone you knew briefly 14 years ago without re-introducing yourself first? If we had seen each other at the mall I'm sure we wouldn't have looked twice at each other. But, she knew who I was because of my mom. It ticked me off that she would assume that I knew exactly who she was.
