...heck, I'm surprised I managed to afford a week at a moderate!
I intended to book seven nights at Pop Century, or any value as that's what our budget would allow, during the first week of the free dining promotion. This was the only way we were going to make a return trip to WDW this year, just 16 months after our trip in June 2006.
Pop was booked when I made our reservation in mid-May so I was given the option of choosing a moderate resort. I chose Caribbean Beach Resort, hoping and (unsuccessfully) attempting to get a room at Pop or another value resort in the weeks that followed. I have been able to tweak the budget to make a stay at CBR a reality.
Then came time for dining reservations. I thought I had them all arranged weeks ago. I was set on Sci-Fi at Disney Studios and the Princess breakfast at Epcot, other than that I was really unsure where we would eat (table service) in the parks.
I had decided on dinner at Cape May Cafe's Clam Bake and breakfast with Lilo and Stitch at the Polynesian in addition to the Sci-Fi and Princess breakfast. At one time the Cinderella dinner at the Grand Floridian was on the schedule, but then I knocked a day off our itinerary and it had to be canceled because I couldn't fit it in to our itinerary. I had Crystal Palace for breakfast, later switching it to lunch so we could take advantage of the rides open during EMH morning at Magic Kingdom. And at one time I considered Le Cellier, but later changed my mind due to the itinerary I'd laid out. We won't have park hoppers so we are limited on where we can dine in the parks each day.
Of course my plans have changed more than a few times, but I think at two weeks out I finally have all of our ADR's confirmed (changed the last one this afternoon). I'm looking forward to spending time at WDW's Deluxe Resorts, probably the only way we will ever set foot on the property of a deluxe resort. We will have the pleasure of dining in four of the Deluxe Resorts on our trip!
Our visits to the deluxe resorts:
Cape May Cafe Clam Bake at the Beach Club
Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge
'Ohana at the Polynesian
Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge
We may never afford to spend even one night at a deluxe resort (though we can dream of a day), but at least we will have the opportunity to see these four and see what is so wonderful about them. I can hardly contain my excitement of our impending week in WDW. Time is going to fly by us during the next two weeks.
