About a week ago I started feeling tingling in my fingers and feet. I went thru everything I thought it might be, perhaps the way I was sleeping at night, etc. I am 53 and when I had youngest DS 14 years ago I developed gestational diabetes which went away after birth. I was told at the time that I was at risk of developing it later on down the road.
So I logged on web md and start reading my symtoms when it hit me that perhaps diabetes had made another appearance! (Add to this, the fact my mom has it)
When I was pregnant I purchased a One Touch II blood glucose meter, which I still have. I need to go out and get a new battery and lancets, and test strips. I want to start monitoring my glucose level. I do have an appt. with my doctor Nov. 10. but I want to start monitoring NOW. I am going to ask my doctor for an oral glucose test, because I understand it to be more accurate.
My question is: Is there a more accurate, easier to use, less expensive device on the market now to measure blood glucose levels?
If I remember correctly those test strips are not exactly cheap.
Thanks for any help!
