So...the long and short of it...we leave in 2 weeks to WDW, my DH due to medical reasons can now not travel, as my parents were coming to WDW from UK to meet us, we have decided that I go on my own with the kids.
so now, Im busily re-arranging our flights and am going to be flying from Perth-Florida alone with a 5 and 7 year old!!!!
Have shed so many tears and had many sleepless nights this week, even resorted to medication! Im sure we will enjoy it, just in a different way,my parents dont get to see the kids very often, and now they are getting older the flight to Australia is tough for them.
I should be happy to still be going but just cant do a full on :cheer2:
Anyone else gone more or less alone? My parents wont be wanting to go on many thrill rides and my kids will probably stick to tamer rides than me!

baf65 - Firstly, I hope that your DH gets better and that there is nothing seriously wrong with him.

I also wish you the best of trips with your kids and your parents. It may be bitter sweet right now and you'll all miss DH when you are at WDW but if you and the kids haven't seen your parents in a while, make the most of this opportunity.

Having an adult ratio of 3 adults and 2 kids will turn out to work well in your favour. You might find that your parents might be happy to sit out the more thrill rides with your kids; and you might find that you will benefit from the fast pass system if you end up going solo on the thrill rides and can accumulate fastpasses using the 5 tickets on the rides you want to do, in multiple, in single, at the different times etc.

Look after your DH whilst you're still here; but enjoy the trip!

I'm sure you will end up having a great time with your parents and kids, even if your DH can't make it. The three to two with your folks should make things a bit easier as mentioned. I'm sure you are looking forward to seeing your folks, it's just the shock and disappointment of your DH not coming is just overriding that feeling right now.

Best wishes for your DH to make a speedy and full recovery.

Sorry to hear your DH cant go with you i hope he recovers form whatever his medical issues are.
I flew from Perth to Dallas with 3 of our children and to be honest it was really no different than if he was there on the flight i just like i was missing something and felt guilty that he had to go to work for 2 more weeks and we were in the USA i said i wouldn't do it again but now that we are contemplating our next trip he is already saying to me that the kids and i should go for the longer time that he cant take of so it obviously didn't upset him as much as it did me:confused3

Enjoy the time with your parents and expect that you will be upset and miss him whilst your away make the most of Skype etc to talk to him, each day DH would call my phone when he was back in his room and then i would call him from my USA prepaid so we were in the same amount of contact as we would normally be.
I am sure you will enjoy yourself as bitter sweet as it is

Very sorry to hear your husband isn't well enough to go on the trip. Take a moment to feel sad about it and then start focusing on how exciting it will be to see your parents and how much the kids will enjoy them and the holiday.

I hope it's nothing serious and that your husband is better very soon.

Enjoy your trip. You'll be great!!!!!!!!

I am sorry to hear about your DH being unwell. It must be upsetting and disappointing to not have him be able to travel with the family especially on a Disney trip. However, try to enjoy the trip for what it is, precious time together with your parents. Although it won't be the same, I am it will be just as special, only in a different way. Praying that your DH will make a quick and complete recovery.

Children at the ages of 5 and 7 I think are at a wonderful age to travel. Disney has much in place that will make it easier for families even for single parent ones. As the others have mentioned, having your parents there will help a lot as well.

Hugs to you :grouphug:

hope your DH is feeling better soon......and trust me you will have a blast..you will miss your man like anything, but hanging with the parents and your kids are at a great age..everything will be fine. Just always let the cabin crew/ check in know you are traveling alone with kids.....and never hesitate to ask for help.

This is going to be great....so keep us posted...:flower3:

So glad you are being sensible and not going without cover, (I can't believe people knowingly do this, especially in the US).

Best wishes for your DH. I imagine he would feel really bad for the whole family to miss out because of him!

Enjoy the time with your parents, I am guessing you don't see them very often!

You are going to have a great time!

thank you!
the good thing is DH is recovering well, and is more than likely in better shape than he was this time last week before the angioplasty! i will have friends checking on him every day while we are away and we will have skype of course!
now to start planning for next year!! LOL

I'm sure it will be a different kind of holiday but it will still be a fantastic one! Having your parents spend quality time with the kids is such a great opportunity - and especially somewhere so magical:)

We leave in 2 weeks - what dates are you at WDW and where are you staying? We will be there 2/11 - 18/11 at SSR!

dabacs...wewill also be there same dates as you...we arrive into orlando on 2 nov, leave on 21 nov - we are staying in a villa at Terra Verde
At this stage our first WDW day isnt going to be until 7 Nov though, but might have to revise plans now
maybe I will bump into you!!
