I just needed to let that out. I feel like I can't talk to my law school friends about it for fear they didn't make it - I don't want to seem like I'm bragging.
If you're not familiar with law school, law review is a school's main journal. Legal academic articles get published by students toiling. At my school 30 out of 250 students are invited each year and they called me!
The first 20 students are invited based 50% on grades and 50% on the writing competition. The other 10 are based solely on the writing competition. No one ever finds out which group they're in - unless you had a lot of As, I guess. Of course I wonder which one I am, but it does not matter - I'm in the door.
It does mean that I won't have time for a 2nd part time job (I teach for Kaplan 3-6 hours per week), but in the long run this will make getting jobs a bit easier - especially if I stay in this market. And I'm hoping it will open doors to a good job next summer.
