Look, my love of the 80s stems from the fact that I was but a child in the decade, uncorrupted by a world of bullies and vile people. I was innocent, I was young, my dad was still alive...
I'm sorry, julie_yet, but I have a sincere and honest love for the 80s that not many people have. To me, 80s music is the most danceable...to me, 80s movies and TV are the most watchable...to me, the fashions, hair, toys, musical instruments and all else were daring, unique and over-the-top.
Honest answer time: Would you prefer to listen to a hair-metal band that looked like women, or an alternative rock band that looked like a bunch of homeless, suicidal, heroin-addicted lumberjacks?
You may not like the 80s or feel that it has any worth (and that's what I'm gathering from your post, julie_yet), but I don't want to have MY chest branded with a Scarlet "E" merely because I prefer Tiffany, "48 HRS" and jean jackets with buttons of Anthrax members.
The 80s are a part of me...The part that contains my heart, my soul and my goodness. Please, understand me.
If this sounds too creepy or insane, please understand that I have emotional problems and I suffer from a mild form of autism, so it's rather difficult to "lighten up" on command.
Sincerely,
John "anotherboardnposter" Kilduff...
