I love priceline

Made the leap and decided to try priceline for our upcoming trip to Dallas. Boy am I glad I did. Got got 2 rooms for $28 a night each!!!!! Now granted this isn't a 4 star luxury hotel but it is a 2.5 star hotel with all the extras that we wanted. An indoor pool would have been nice but at $28 a night I think I can handle it. Just had to share!!!

I use Priceline for every trip I take. I have a hotel room via Priceline at Niagra Falls Canada in July..a 4* for 49 dollars and lucked into a 4 Points Sheraton Suites. A week later a room in a suburb of Chicago (my choice to be there) also Priceline and a Sheraton for $40 a night. I am waiting to make my ressies for another trip to Chicago also will be Priceline and Pennsylvania when I get my dates down.


The only place I don't use Pricline, or at least try Priceline is WDW, and I did that once, and got the Swan and Dolphin, now the only place I stay

I want to take the Priceline plunge for the first time this summer, we are going to see the Yankees beat the Orioles at Camden Yards. The game is in August, how far in advance can I put in my bid. Is it hard to get two rooms? I'm kind of nervous of waiting too long and not being able to get any decent rooms. The prices I've seen listed around the Inner Harbor on Priceline are awesome though.

I was over reading on the Budget Board today. People are posting that they're getting a rate of $70.00/night for the Swan and the Hilton in DTD. It's for late spring/early summer, but those rates are still great! That's less than the All Stars!

You can do less for the HDD...I got $45 for a DDD resort a year two yers ago.

Kallison, you can do it now. You do not have to wit closer. I find that the farther away the date and the closer in the better. It is that month or two away where it gets hard. Two rooms should be no problem.

There is a site www.biddingfortravel.com that has lots of info on priceline, and what people have been bidding and getting.

I'd also encourage you to use the bidding for travel site. By looking at recent winning bids, you can avoid overbidding or being unable to make a successful bid by underbidding.

Also, the FAQ is a must read, as it really explains how priceline and the bidding process works. If you go in blindly, you are much less likely to have a successful experience, and could end up very disappointed.

I have used Priceline with huge success on probably 30 different hotel stays over the last 3-4 years. The most recent was a 3 night stay at a brand new Hyatt Resort near Naples. This is a $250-$300 a night hotel, and we paid $68 a night!

The only time I don't use Priceline is for WDW, because I only want to stay at the Swan/Dolphin, and with priceline you're not guaranteed a certain hotel, only a certain zone and star rating.

I think priceline is going to be the way we are going to go from now on. I can't wait to see the room. I hope it's as nice as the pictures show. Especially since my inlaws will be with on this trip. I've gotten some pretty good rooms the last few times that we've all been together. (Not using priceline) But I think she'll flip over the price if the room is nice.

I had a great room in Washington, D.C. over the summer through Priceline. We stayed at Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill. If I looked straight out of my room window I could see Union Station just two blocks away and if I kind of pressed my head against the glass and looked to the right and really, really strained my eyeball, I could see the Capitol Building again only two blocks away.

Oh, I paid $65 a night!

Has anyone ever used Priceline to get a hotel in the Keys? We want to spend a long weekend in the Keys some time in March or April, but that is the high season and eveything is priced too high for our budget. I have never used Priceline before, so I am not sure what to bid. I selected a 4-star category and it displayed the retail average price as something like $289 per night. So am I supposed to underbid that, and by how much? Thanks for the help!

Truly, go to www.biddingfortravel.com First read the Hotel FAQs, which ouline the best bidding strategies and explains how Priceline works - you may have to read this multiple times to understand it all. Then read the area-specific hotel boards to see the recent prices. You can also search and find details. You may also request bidding strategy help, and the kind folks there will guide your bid - it will take a little research on your part, but it is worth it! Good luck!

Oh my goodness! There is so much great advice over there. I am so happy you posted the link! You've given me hope for our weekend getaway to the Keys. Just waiting for my DH to get back to me with some dates so I can place a bid (after I spend a few hours reading everything I can on biddingfortravel!)

I'll post my results if/when we get a great deal.

Thanks to phins_jazy for starting this thread. I had just about given up hope for this Keys mini-vacation happening, but now I am sure we'll find a way to do it!

I have used priceline for the past 2 years and have been very pleased as well. The only time I don't use PL is for WDW. This past Christmas season I got the LE Parker Meridien in NYC for 2 nites for $120.00 and it was a great bargain! We have decided to go to Montreal for Easter and I got a great deal at trhe Delta Montreal $37. per nite for 2 rooms. The website looks great and the hotel seems very kid friendly. So our lodging is less than $350.00. Just can't beat it.
