I have prowled the boards on and off for a few days now and I just LOVE reading people's posts. I was a Disney kid growing up, visiting usually twice or more a year. Now, as an adult with a 2 year old, there is nothing more rewarding that walking down Main Street and hearing my son yell at the top of his lungs, "Tinker Bell's House" or "Mickey's House" when he sees the castle. And I love even more his lack of fear for the costumed characters. He actually chased Pooh through the Crystal Palace last week trying to give him more hugs...he was actually hugging Pooh's bum and the whole restaurant erupted with laughter. It was entertaining to say the least as he chased Pooh down and kept saying "give Pooh more hugs give Pooh more hugs". Anyway, I just wanted to pop on and say hello. We are passholders within 45 min. of the parks and we are there at least once a month. Look forward to getting to know more about the boards and participating more too.

Lucky that you live so close to WDW and can visit so often! You should have lots of advice for us newbies. I'll be going next year for the first time! Welcome to the DIS! :disrocks:

The only thing I really can offer is something I heard from a CM the other day. We went on the Wednesday that Tropical Storm Fay was doing the least of her damage here in C.Fla and the MK had the perfect amt. of people in it. At 9:30AM we parked in the 1st parking lot and by 2:30 we had done EVERYTHING we wanted to do, which was ride about 7 rides. It was fantastic. At our late lunch at the Crystal Palace, we overheard a CM say that historically, Wednesdays are their slowest days...

Not exactly a huge, earthshattering piece of advice to share...but I thought it was worth mentioning. If you can, visit during a mild tropical storm...LOL. We had a great time despite the light drizzle. The sky was overcast, and it was nice and cool (not typical for summer in Fla...lol). We did not encounter a line more than 20min long on anything we wanted to do (except Buzz Lightyear).

We were dying to try the Buzz Lightyear ride with our 2 year old son but the fastpasses were for return during our lunch reservation time. We asked the Fastpass CM if there was any way to return a little bit earlier. She reached into her shirt pocket and said "how about right now" as she pulled out the current time's fastpass and showed us over to the fastpass line. It was a wonderful surprise and a 40min line turned into a 5min wait for us. Advice - it never hurts to ask

It was the 3rd of 3 surprises we got that day. Our first surprise was coming back to our stroller after Small World only to find that our poncho covering our stroller had been stolen (thanks for the wet stroller poncho stealers). It was blatantly put on the stroller right next to ours...We knew because it had some distinguising rips and tears to help my husband's big head fit into it...LOL - totally true. The attendent heard me complaining and offered us a free poncho. Advice - it doesn't hurt to let a CM know if something as replaceable as a poncho has been stolen

The 2nd surprise was when we took our son to the popcorn cart right outside of toon town. I thought something was up when the cart CM had a very official person standing next to her that she whispered to when we walked up. She took our order (a bucket of popcorn) and again whispered to the official looking guy. He asked if we were sure that was all we wanted. I said yes and he then told us that it was on Mickey...lol. A little surprise but a nice one nonetheless. Advice - if you see a vest wearing CM or official looking CM hanging out at a place like a drink/ice cream or popcorn cart...opt for a snack. You just might get surprised. We didn't plan it but now we know.
