I love Ellen don't get me wrong.. but I don't think she's fit for AI.

I like Ellen on the show. I think she brings a fresh new twist to the show, and it still learning the ropes. I really don't like Kara at all! I would take Paula over her any day. And I couldn't stand the audition part when Katy Perry was on... all those two did was compete and bicker with each other. Ugh. Simon looks like he's not even paying attention most of the time, and this year's contestants really suck. There are a few good ones I am rooting for, but I just still cannot believe some of the people they picked!!!

This is exactly how I feel. When other judges talk.. they know what they are talking about.. But when she talks.. she more so talk about their looks, how sweet they are, they have sweet personalities.. while I think she should be talking more about the singing voice.. And she seems to be having a hard time looking for that right words.

I just want someone who know what to look for or knows what they are talking about.. As stated already, maybe she is just nervous cause she is new to this. I just feel uncomfortable watching her.. like I'm uncomfortable for her..

Exactly, its a singing competition, the contestants need to hear real criticism from those in the business that know what people want and will vote for. Ellen may represent the average listener, but when she says things like I think your cute so you should stay, she isn't doing anyone any favors.
Why do they need 4 :confused3, Ellen is redundant.

Yea, but people who like music and dancing are people who BUY music. That's an important perspective, in my opinion. Plus she is funny (she has the potential to be very funny), which is also an important contribution to a television show.

Just the way I see it. I hated Paula, though, so I could hug Ellen over and over for replacing her!

Agreed. DH and I like the fact that now it is almost like there is an actual fan on the judging panel. Its a voice that wasn't really being heard before unless you count their rigged voting system, so it's nice to hear someone saying things that WE would like to be able to say during the judging time.

Of course I also ADORE Ellen so that doesn't hurt. I think she is one of the most utterly positive forces in Hollywood right now.

It's KARA who I simply can NOT stand...

She is as 'high school' as they come....
And, can be the consummate 'mean girl' at that...
I hated her from day one, just because of her vibe.
And, now that I have watched her for a while, it is very clear why. :headache:

She interacts way, way, to personally with these young contestants...

This Casey thing is becoming just nauseating.

Does anybody remember when she acted like a middle school girl and personally attacked the guy at try-outs who was clearly Aspergers.... :sad2::mad:

Sorry, but with Simon gone... Paula gone... If Kara and Ellen are what we are looking at..... :confused3

I haven't seen all the shows just some of them so I haven't gotten the full effect of Cara but I heard some of it last night and I was like huh?? But I was busy with something else at the same time so I couldn't put my full attention on it... I will watch more and see but I wasn't a big fan of Cara's either...but I do know that I have NEVER been a fan of Ellen never could stand her...

I've always liked Ellen; I greatly enjoy her style of comedy and I think she's a great addition to the show and much better than Paula.

She might not be in the music business; but she's been a performer (stand up, TV, movies, etc) for years so I think she has plenty of relevant experience.

I think that the show is in general lame nowadays but I do like Ellen. Simon leaving might just kill this show though.

I agree with the comments about Kara, She's so annoying and condesending(I know I spelled that wrong...sorry;) The PP poster who called her a 'mean girl' hit the nail on the head. And the stuff with Casey....enough!! I thought it was kind of cute/funny in the auditions but now stop it!! He was clearly uncomfortable last night(poor baby...I could make it all better for him;)) Simon is clearly D.O.N.E. He looks like he would rather be getting a root canal than sitting at that table and I love me some Simon so that makes me sad, lol I like Ellen a lot I think she just needs to work out her nerves plus I think she has the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen!

I get a weird vibe from the judges as well. I love Ellen, but she seems to be nervous or a little skeptical about what she should say to the contestants. There's just something off w/ all four of them.

hahaha.. :rotfl: I think after Daughtry's and Underwood's season (don't know what seasons they are).. I kind of lost my interest on this show. But since Ellen is on and Paula is gone.. I just wanted to see how things are now.

ITA! I swore I'd never watch another season after Chris got the boot. Of course, I still watch but it's more for entertainment sake. I liked David Cook on the show, but I just haven't been able to get into his music.

LOL.. I love how you put it.. "There's just something off w/ all four of them."
:lmao:

ITA ::yes:: ... Kara has always gotten on my nerves but this year she's even worse ... has anybody else noticed her overall attitude and demeanor? ... IMO, she is acting like she is the Queen of the show and knows it all and is just being a show-off ... I like Ellen as a talk show host, but I'm just not sure about her as a AI judge yet ... I got a little frustrated with her this week telling the contestants that they were basically awful but they were also "great", all in the same sentence ... I know she's trying to be the "nice" judge, but maybe she needs to get herself a thesaurus so she can come up with some different words to use :) ...

It is sooo obvious that Simon has checked-out of the show already, but I still enjoy him ... I think the AI execs messed up last year adding Kara to the show, and now adding Ellen, and with Simon leaving, I think that AI may be coming to an end ... that is if they don't start making some positive changes soon ...

I would love to see Whoppi on as a judge and also Janet Jackson!

(poor baby...I could make it all better for him;))

Just wanted to say I like the way you talk/post....

"Make it all better..."

"D.O.N.E", "Root canal"

You 'sound' just like me!!!!!!

:goodvibes

I love Ellen on AI, I think she is doing great, she seems to love doing it too, and she is funny!

OMG if they put Shania on AI I will never watch it....rudest person EVER! I cannot stand her and her "I'm somebody, you better recognize attitude". I like Ellen, I think she's a bit nervous but she will adjust.

I heard this morning that Ellen and Simon are not getting along and that's the reason that they are no longer sitting next to each other. Not sure if it's true, but there could be some tension in the air.

I think that four judges are just too many. That's part of the reason that Ellen seems redundant, I think they all do when they are the fourth judge to speak. I was happy with three.

Same here.. I think 3 judges is enough.. But to have 4.. I think Ellen is having a hard time deciding wether she likes what she heard (the contestant's singing), especially when she is the last one to give her comment. The 3 judges might not like the singing, but maybe Ellen does, so she is not sure wether to just go along with the judges or to go against them. Like she is unsure.. That's how I see it.. Again.. this is just my opinion.

I am so glad I have DVR. However I don't fast forward thru the commercials - I fast forward thru all the judges' comments (except for Simon). In the past I usually agreed with Simon...but not this year! Last night he praised someone who I thought was just horrible (cannot even remember the contestant). I agree that he has lost his edge.

I love Ellen and her talk show, but she's not contributing anything new and exciting to AI. I can tolerate her better than Paula though!

Kara is super annoying and her behavior over Casey is embarrassing. Randy is just a non-entity to me.

The contestants this year are very disappointing so far. This year the only two I really look forward to hearing are Crystal Bowersox and Casey.

3 judges are plenty. That being said, I am willing to give Ellen some time to settle into this new role. She is much better than several of the guest judges, for sure.
