I love her! But I don't know if American Idol suits her. I notice she keeps pausing, looking for the right words to say.. She seems to be stuttering a little bit. Sometimes I feel like she's just going with what other judges' opinion.. like she's feeding off from other judges. Please don't shoot me.. I'm just stating my opinion. It's just that.. my opinion.

Who would you rather see on AI instead of Ellen?? I thought Kate Perry did a good job when she was the guest at one of the opening auditions. I like Shania Twain too. There's a lot of artists out there that I think is more qualified than Ellen.. Again.. please don't shoot me.. I am just stating my opinion. = )

As someone who is not a fan of Ellen DeGeneres, I have to say I think she's doing a GREAT job on AI. I didn't even want her on the show to begin with. I actually like her better than Paul Abdul (and I LOVE Paula). Ellen is real and honest and critical.

I think Ellen is a wonderful talent who is still finding her way on AI. Simon & Randy are totally "phoning it in" so the chemistry of the judges that was so important in the past, is all messed up. This show may be in the process of jumping the shark, but that's not Ellen's fault.

I agree. I want to see someone who knows singing, not someone who likes music and dancing. Don't get me wrong I love her, but she needs to stick to Talk Shows (or another sitcom, I loved Ellen).

I was going to post this on the AI thread today. I totally agree. I am getting a weird vibe from the judges this year. Simon has already left the building. WTH? They just don't seem like they care anymore.

As for Ellen, she is brand new to this. She is probably just as nervous as the singers are on stage. I remember when she first started her talk show, she was a mess interviewing the guests. Her jokes wer sloppy and it was hard to watch, but you could clearly see it was her nerves. She smoothed out and found her groove, and now she is great as a talk show host!

I do hope she does bring a little more comedy into her comments.

I liked her at first but now she sounds like the rest of them, reading from their LIKE/DON'T LIKE cards....

Every year they have a group of PIMPED contestants that could take a dump on the stage and they've been told to LIKE them no matter what.

Then there is the cannon fodder... the poor fools who show up just to be thinned out for the ones they REALLY want... they could sing AMAZINGLY and they will shake their heads and put them down.

It's all becoming so obvious and old. I'm really getting tired of AI.

she is awful on the show and the main reason I have now stopped watching. I didnt even watch lastnights show after watching her Tuesday night.

And sure, shes famous and can do what ever the hell she wants but I find it very unfair and unethical to have given one of the girls who didnt make the top 24 a push into a deal with kara and some music producers. She wasnt top 24 for a reason, and why not give same chance to everyone who didnt make it or was right on cusp? will she give same treatment to the ones that get kicked off from here on out, etc... Very unethical for a "judge" of the show to be doing that.

Maybe.. Maybe she is just finding her way on AI and because she is new to this, she is just as nervous as the singers on the stage. I'll keep watching her.. and I hope by mid season she will be more comfortable of herself being on AI.
Yes, I would love to see her be more a comedian when she gives comments. I think she will do better that way.. like she is in her own elements and her words will flow smoothly..

Yea, but people who like music and dancing are people who BUY music. That's an important perspective, in my opinion. Plus she is funny (she has the potential to be very funny), which is also an important contribution to a television show.

Just the way I see it. I hated Paula, though, so I could hug Ellen over and over for replacing her!

I like Ellen, and think she's doing a good job on AI. Didn't care for Paula "You were great no matter how you sang" Abdul, so I think she's a vast improvement. I think Ellen tries to give original critiques and she's just getting started at it, so I think she'll get even better as time passes.

I agree with those that say that Simon seems to be phoning it in. It just seems like when the camera is on him, he looks so BORED and like he can hardly wait to get off the set.

And, Kara is really starting to bug me regarding Casey. Sure, he's some mighty fine eye candy, but woman - start acting professionally and do your JOB as a judge. I was on another forum and they made a good point - would Kara's behavior be tolerated if she were a male judge? I really don't think so. It's now creepy and even Casey doesn't seem to know how to react to it. I don't blame him. :confused3

I hope the show gets back into better form because it's not much fun to watch right now.

She would have been HILARIOUS is the tryout part of AI!!! They missed the boat on that one! I thought she would be more funny, especially with Simon.

I agree with you, OP. I LOVE Ellen but I don't think this is a good fit for her. There seems to be nothing to say. if she goes first after the singer, she does much better because she hasn't heard what they are saying. But still, it all seems so staged.

"That was terrible. But you're great. I know you can do better than that. I like you a lot."

And Simon does seem checked out and over it. Plus, he often does say what I'm thinking. lol And get booed for it. :)

I didn't hear about Kara making an unethical deal. That's bad. :(

It think the shows is sinking.

Yea, but people who like music and dancing are people who BUY music. That's an important perspective, in my opinion!

:thumbsup2 Great point!
Simon and Randy listen to the singers as producers. The critique them basedon what the INDUSTRY is looking for. Ellen represents the regular music fan. I watch AI and I listen and then ask myself, would I buy this person's cd? Would I pay to see this person perform? She may not be able to pick up on every missed note or whatever it is the singer does when they try to change up a song, she will sit there and listen to the song as a fan of music, and then tell them if they were good or not.

I think the problem is that this is not the place to be really funny. Sure, some humor is good but it has got to be hard to combine humor with judging. I think as a guest judge that would work but not as a regular. JMHO

I think she looks uncomfortable. Almost like "this is not what I thought this would be like" type thing. Anyway, I love Ellen, glad paula is gone but this season the talent is horrible so far. :(

This is exactly how I feel. When other judges talk.. they know what they are talking about.. But when she talks.. she more so talk about their looks, how sweet they are, they have sweet personalities.. while I think she should be talking more about the singing voice.. And she seems to be having a hard time looking for that right words.

I just want someone who know what to look for or knows what they are talking about.. As stated already, maybe she is just nervous cause she is new to this. I just feel uncomfortable watching her.. like I'm uncomfortable for her..

But...but...but.... it's the best group of singers they've ever had! The talent is so great this year, the bar was raised so high!!!:rotfl2:
hahaha.. :rotfl: I think after Daughtry's and Underwood's season (don't know what seasons they are).. I kind of lost my interest on this show. But since Ellen is on and Paula is gone.. I just wanted to see how things are now.

It's KARA who I simply can NOT stand...

She is as 'high school' as they come....
And, can be the consummate 'mean girl' at that...
I hated her from day one, just because of her vibe.
And, now that I have watched her for a while, it is very clear why. :headache:

She interacts way, way, to personally with these young contestants...

This Casey thing is becoming just nauseating.

Does anybody remember when she acted like a middle school girl and personally attacked the guy at try-outs who was clearly Aspergers.... :sad2::mad:

Sorry, but with Simon gone... Paula gone... If Kara and Ellen are what we are looking at..... :confused3

This is how I feel!! I found it painful to watch...:scared1:
