@Lain I use Venmo all the time. If DH gets an account we should set him up with a different bank account? Would occasional payments to him be ok from me?

Out of caution, I would suggest p1 and p2 (and p3, p4...) have separate bank accounts that don't include the names of any other player(s) (e.g., no joint accounts).

But yeah, I have a Venmo account linked to an old individual account of mine. My wife has a Venmo account linked to an old individual account of hers. I send her payments for this and that all the time. I sent her a $500 payment the other week for pet sitting our doggy over the holidays. No problems.

Not wanting to scare you, but a couple years ago a friend of mine had this happen - someone ordered a tv to be delivered to his house. He caught it in time and also reported it to the police. The cops told him that when this happens the scumbags will have someone sat outside your house waiting for the delivery truck when they will either snag it off your doorstep or pretend to be the homeowner and sign for it.

So as dumb as it seems - if the victim doesn’t check email often and is at work during the day - it is entirely possible they could get away with it.

All this talk in the last day or so about identity theft/accounts stolen on public wifi/etc. has made me completely paranoid. I'm off to change my password on everything now.

its a very rare instance of ppl stealing off wifi... your best defense would be to just buy a VPN. this will secure all data between u and the VPN company. I have my dad do this when he travels.

That's what we had! SO GOOD. We actually just got that and then a couple sides to share. Plus some fried green tomatoes... it was a TON of food and so, so good.

It is a lot of food! The last time we were there, we ate ourselves silly, but it was sooooo good that I asked them to pack up the left-overs. Which was completely irrational, given it was the middle of the day in August and we weren't going back to the hotel any time soon. I blame the food coma. I honestly thought about eating it, and DH almost still did, but fear of food poisoning finally won out. I have never been sadder to throw away left-overs in my life.

ETA- I know some people don't believe in paying for the convenience fee but for $73 I made my MSR for 70,000 AA miles (currently selling for $1881, conservatively estimated value at $0.01/mi would place that at $700) and for $27 for 3000 MRs (est $30) so definitely worth it to me for something we had to painfully pay anyway.

I think this is good use of a fee. I am contemplating this as well with my SW Biz. Tax bill coming up and the CC fee is $69. So I would meet MSR in one swipe and half of my CP plans complete for $69. I am trying to set up PNC and fund that way so no fee, but if it doesn't work, I'll go the tax route.

Thanks for sharing the Amazon deal, I can't remember who posted it. I was able to get a Whole Foods GC and used my existing amazon gc funds to cover the balance. Well, I actually topped that up with my SWBiz before checkout to work on that MSR. That will help extend the food budget a little during Shutdown.

So I thought Dh canceled the order but he said he didn’t. Dh thinks the person realized our card is saved to our account and it’s only allowed to ship to our address so he thinks they cancelled right after because of that. I’m still wondering how someone got on his account. His password isn’t easy to guess

On another note, Dh and I both have the Amex 10% off at staples. We went in the store and started with $150 each in Disney gcs. Just checked my referral link that I'd updated on 12/8 and it was no longer available. Neither was my CFU so I went on to get a new one since they'd emailed me yesterday and when I went to refer a friend the Hyatt card wasn't an option. I did add CSP though. There was a Marriott and IHG card and I think SW as far as travel, but on the refer a friend page there was only I think 12 chase cards that had referral options.

I'll go check. There is availability but it's spring break so the prices are high. I think it is nuts that this conference is during spring break. My dh has attended this one many times and it's always been end of April. First one I can go with him on and we can stay after for a couple of days and it's during spring break!

Yeah but Spring Break is various dates in March and April. DS school has Spring Break 3/23-3/30 but April 21 is Easter so many schools here, especially Catholic schools, have Spring Break 4/19-4/28, so end of April.
