It’s going to be cold here but I am very glad the weather is staying south for a change since it’s girlfriend time at the Hershey Spa.on Mon and then I will have met my Biz Gold spend. It was a long and exhausting night here since the stomach bug has gotten DS and somehow DH managed to sleep through the worse part. I definitely know I was not cut out to be a nurse since cleaning up his upset stomach made mine upset. And now I will have more time to kill since I was supposed to go to a Christmas party at the National Aquarium tonight and finAlly use my Uber credits but now I’ll be home with DS.
Well I am/was a nurse and cleaning up vomit makes me want to vomit too. Luckily, I did mother/baby and newborn nursery with occasional peds, so minimal vomit was experienced.

I did it - made the change this morning...we are staying in a Theme Park View Contemporary Resort room for our last 3 nights in Jan/Feb.

I woke up this morning with this feeling of “it’s $600...you have like $30,000 in travel points...you could convert those into cash equivalents of $15,000+ if you needed to...just do it cheap-o...” And so I did it! And I plan to tell the girls on Christmas morning as a gift!!

whhoooo hoooo!

Have you reviewed this bucket list? Is it still a high priority one? If so, I'd consider it. If not, then while, no, it's never going to get cheaper but it might not be as sweet if you're ruminating over the $600 non UR difference.

While I've never stayed in the CR castle view several years ago stayed in a Poly castle view (prior to the Villas being built) and it was pretty awesome, I cannot lie. Was it one of the top 10 events in my life? Not a chance, but maybe top 10 of Disney trips.
Full Disclosure...I don’t really have a bucket list lol. I have a Disney bucket list and that’s about it. There’s things I’d like to do at Disney. In real life the only thing on my list is retire early - otherwise I just live pretty simply and love it.

has anyone rented through thrifty at MCO? OK or no? I can't use my hertz points for one way van rental, and I'm not sure I should take a chance on the ultimate choice area having one available, so I guess I need to use another company. Thrifty is cheapest on the UR portal at the moment.

I have always used Alamo it is worth it to me even if a little more; if you go with Thrifty make sure it is one of the companies on site. Some of them at MCO are off site and you have to take a shuttle to access. I would avoid that.

oh geez. no way. I think I will stick with my $116 hertz rental. I have to pay real money for it, but at least I know they will text me the stall and we load up and drive away. the ur portal has a ridiculous upcharge for Alamo over the Costco and direct pricing, so can't book there with points. boo. Thanks for sharing!

do the upgrade. use discounted gift cards. reimburse cost of those with URs. someone on this boards taught me that. :P
I am still struggling with cashing out URs. I’ve started to do it a couple of times and stopped thinking “why are you doing this”. It will be interesting to see if I ever actually pull the trigger on this.

I used Thrifty with URs last month at MCO. It was a good experience - no issues. :)

Lol - that really wouldn’t change my opinion. The SFF accounting system and GAAP rules we follow do not allow us to attribute bank bonus income to travel...yes that sounds crazy and it is true hahaha.

It’s really not about the cost - we can do it if we want...it’s just that I’m also cheap (like SUPER cheap)...and so now that I’ve psychologically set a price for this trip in my mind it’s hard for me to spend $600 more now.
So what are the bank bonuses for? Savings? Which is used for?
Not being sarcastic, I honestly want to understand.

My DH tells me I’m Cheap all the time...I prefer Thrifty or Frugal...::yes::.....comes from being raised by two parents who were depression era babies, bought houses, cars etc for cash vs DH brought up by parents who were the exact opposite with much debit. Makes for interesting discussions about money in our home
My sister and I were brought up by the exact same parents yet have totally different financial plans (neither of us has debt but otherwise different). She has gotten more frugal in the past couple years but I’ve always been that way. And I research the crap out of most things where she is the impulsive one.

But what is the point? Just to say you have 600k points?

ETA I see you did it! Congrats! (Not cashing out but the booking)

I put that in as Misc Income along with interest. It stems back to when I was doing bank bonuses in a big way. We made around $4k in successive years and it seemed to be the best place to put it. Of course this is all just on paper - I just happen to manage my family finances as if we were a corporation LOL!

Thanks! Yeah I’m excited.

The point to holding on to the URs is that I don’t necessarily have a use for the cash right now and I could come up with a use for them towards travel. I’d much rather get $9,000 in value out of them than $6,000.

We might be the same person. Retire early is my bucket list too.

Altho I wouldn't hate to stay in an overwater bungalow someday. :)

Enjoy that special view. I have never stayed at Contemporary. DH and I are both just too cheap. We just just the word cheap - proud of it!

We paid cash for 2 nights in a Theme Park view room, before moving to our DVC home on points for our 20th anniversary. It was also on my bucket list. While I would not do it again, it was ABSOLUTELY worth it! I could just sit and stare at that view all night. And watching fireworks in your jammies while the music plays on your TV is priceless!

Rented through Thrifty last April. No issues at all. We use Thrifty a lot actually and have never had a problem.

In my case I was clicking referral for the wrong card...spg biz in this case. Not sure why, because I initiated referral from the plat offers area. For some reason, that was only showing me referral to spg biz. I then noticed a arrow on that second screen (after clicking offers area referral) up near the pic of the cc, that allowed me to scroll though the cards. I scrolled to the plat and then it gave me a plethora of options to app for. Hope that helps!

Thanks for that. Will definitely take another look at it.
